I am working on building an interactive map of every county's SNAP data but several states are currently dark, so if anyone can get me clean county-level data with the FIPS IDs that would be amazing.

Canada has a tiny fraction of the cold weather related deaths of much warmer nations, like the UK. Why? Because of legislation that requires people be kept warm in winter.

Now we need the same for staying cool in summer. It's as simple as that. Do it.

How hot is too hot? Newfoundland and Labrador lacks legislation to keep seniors in congregate living facilities cool.

I really can't stress enough to everyone I talk to how authoritative this is.

I really hope Alberta labour can come together and make things extremely uncomfortable for the UCP government.

This ongoing abuse of the NWC to strip individuals rights needs to be cut quick. #cdnpoli
An important note…

Smith isn’t just overriding the federal Charter…

She’s also overriding the Alberta Human Rights Act AND the Alberta Bill of Rights she just rewrote.

Executives from a number of SDF recipient organizations quickly donated money back to the PC Party.

“The fact that this government is operating a circular economy of donations for taxpayer dollars – our dollars – that are then donated back again to the government is frankly gobsmacking."

Abhorrent behaviour from this UCP government. Supposedly the most "freedom-loving" Premier in Canada, but Danielle Smith is abusing power like an authoritarian by forcing teachers back to work.

Alberta students deserve better.
Families deserve better.
Teachers deserve better.

The problem with the Ontario government’s ad wasn’t that it doctored or “cherry-picked” Reagan’s remarks on tariffs and free trade or that it angered Trump to this degree. The main issue is that the ad was targeted at Reagan Republicans — a group that no longer exists, @supriya.bsky.social writes.
Ford’s anti-tariff ad was dumb, but not for the reasons you think

My oldest works with special needs kids in the public school system

When you have over 30 kids in a kindergarten class, 10 with special needs, kids are going to fall through the cracks

Those kids grow up to be adults who can't read

The teachers were trying to save their future

I see the problem, Alberta teachers didn't have a "DONT TREAD ON ME" Gadsden flag in their classrooms like Premier Danielle Smith does. /s

Hypocrite.

There's a lot of news out there right now, but the Alberta government's use of the notwithstanding clause of the Charter to break up the teachers' strike is a big deal, and much hangs on the kind of opposition that shows up in response to the move.
