The best thing you can do for your writing is to take good care of yourself. The work comes easier, faster, and better when you've got full bars.

Corollary: The best thing we can do to get more amazing art from our faves is to take good care of the artists.

I'm genuinely tired of the fact that Katie Porter fans keep acting like it's the establishment that's out to get her, or it's a gender issue.

No, her repeated incidents of staff abuse + mistreating anyone w/ perceived less power than her, have just finally caught up to her.

So glad we’re finally cancelling all the politicians who are rude to journalists, because I could name a lot of—

Wait, we’re just cancelling Katie Porter?

That seems a bit pointed. I wonder why the Dems would go after their own front runner?

Tough isn’t a flaw; it’s what California needs. Porter should stay in the race | Opinion
The non-stop coverage of Katie Porter’s ugliest moments caught on camera has less to do with her fitness to be the Governor of California and far more to do with the California Democratic Party once a...

I just want to add that for people on immunosuppressants, catching covid (or many other things) means they're often directed to stop taking their medication so they can fight off the virus. This risks a relapse of their condition and introduces a host of complications in addition to the covid ones.

To you, getting covid may be no big deal.

But thanks to a failure in public health you have no idea who or what you’re risking.

Repeat covid infections are really bad for those with Long Covid.

Did you know that Black, Latino and Native American communities are at highest risk for Long Covid?

The weirdest migraines for me are when the pain is minor but the lights are like a film or tv version of an acid trip and my head feels like it’s going to fall off if I turn or lift or move it too suddenly, i.e. faster than 1 inch per second.

I need it in my eyeballs (as soon as I have eyeballs and not marshmallows).

I am FASCINATED by the thought of what he would bring to the X-Men I need a full trilogy please and thank you. (Also can we FINALLY get Angela Bassett as Storm? Maybe?)

Financially times are...well, let's be honest. They're shit. Everyone I know is anxious about money. So let's talk about an awesome local resource - your local public library. You and your local public library have my favorite kind of relationship - a reciprocal one!

I know the temptation is to just scroll past this with a “not surprised” reaction, but you should read this if you have the emotional bandwidth to encounter horrifying slurs and violent sentiments, because there’s an important takeaway: extremism is often performed to reinforce an in-group’s bond.

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

This is such a bullshit framing. The government serves the people. If most Americans want coffee then the gov't should reconsider policies around trade, alliances and climate that impact access and figure out what the way is do ease that access. This problem is a policy choice, not a personal one

Tariffs have rapidly increased the price of coffee—a drink with almost no nutritional value and lots of functional substitutes. Yet coffee may also be the one thing Americans can’t live without, @elcush.bsky.social writes:
The Drink That Americans Won’t Give Up Without a Fight
Coffee has almost no nutritional value and lots of substitutes. It’s also, apparently, too important to lose.

Gavin Newsom can go straight to hell. Like just take the goddamned express train, Haircut. Supporting him for president is like trying to put JK Rowling in charge if she also made a habit of persecuting unhoused people.

1. Yesterday, the press gave Gavin Newsom favorable coverage for signing pro-LGBTQ+ bills.

Little noticed, however, was that he vetoed one of the most important ones: a bill allowing trans people 12 month HRT stockpiles, protecting them from federal threats.

Gavin Newsom Vetoes Important HRT Stockpiling Bill For Trans Californians, Signs Other Pro-LGBTQ+ Bills
The bill would have allowed transgender people to maintain a safe supply of medication in the era of government crackdowns on care.

Please be conscious if you protest this weekend that there are feds at the protest. They look like you and they sound like you, not like Steve Buscemi in that one clip with the skateboard. Thinking you can spot them is self delusion. Nobody you haven’t met needs to know your last name.

I am almost out of Chronicles of Elantra books and I'm mad about it so I'm gonna yell about it to all'o'y'all.

First of all, it's a fantasy. It's an epic fantasy. It's kind of a coming of age in that the protagonist is a young woman (20-21) coming to terms with being An Adult. There is no romance.
