Unlawfully built, now leaking through the safety liner. Enough fuel to blow Darwin Harbour to kingdom come
abcnewsbot.bsky.social
Groundwater is leaking through the safety liner under some of the fuel facility's 11 tanks, which were constructed unlawfully on Darwin Harbour without a building permit. It comes after the NT government approved the tanks for operation in September.

I offered a dissenting voice in this article about "beauty" in #architecture, though little of it got in. Essentially, I can't see why style wars should wang on self-promotingly through a climate emergency.

I put the case here too:

Who should decide what makes a building beautiful?
Everyone agrees that we need more homes, and fast — and that we want them to look good. But who should be the judge: architects, governments or the general public?

in any EU city - with the redevelopment of SLU... westlake would have been designated a car-free street - and the businesses here would be packed and pedestrian-oriented.

they also would have mandated waaay more housing and especially affordable housing - with such massive rezones.

poor leadership

This would strike horror across our car centered nation. Every aspect of the designs of our cities have been designed with car travel as the main consideration.

@mehdirhasan.bsky.social explains why Tony Blair should be on trial for war crimes in Iraq, instead of planning to destroy Gaza further with Trump on ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored.’

Miners to get an early look at Labor’s new green laws

Tom Rabe
WA political correspondent
Oct 12, 2025 – 3.26pm

The Albanese government will give mining companies and other stakeholders draft extracts of its environmental protection laws before they go to parliament, as Environment Minister Murray Watt tries to rebuild trust after earlier negotiations on the reforms collapsed in acrimony.

As of now there is nothing Albanese's govt has done that has changed the country in any structural way.

No change at all to how the fundamental debates of the nation are addressed.

While the media and political class fixate on tinkering with superannuation, a new report finds that 1 in 7 Australians are living in #poverty.

And it's 1 in 6 children.

In such a wealthy nation, this is an obscene policy choice. #inequality #RaiseTheRate #auspol

Ian Verrender: The solution? Siphon gas from domestic market.

The end result domestic gas prices on Australia’s east coast have trebled, resulting surging electricity prices that have put Australian households and energy intensive businesses under extreme pressure.
Why Santos is behind your soaring electricity and mortgage costs
It was a primary force behind Australia’s inflationary surge, it’s forced businesses either to the wall or to shift offshore, undermined national industry policy and resulted in the loss of countless ...

I am fast coming to the view that justice/pro poor/environment/ pro Gaza groups should all consider uniting to campaign for an end to Albanese’s leadership.

Thanks to Rudd, the next federal election is our best focus for this.

What do you think?

What a massive bloody flop Albanese turned out to be. Cautious to the point of paranoia. A myopic lens with which to view an obviously collapsing USA. Environmental betrayer of the climate & natural world. And a genocide enabler selling weapon parts empowering the ongoing #GazaHolocaust
