We tried to place this story - very expensive polling, the first of its kind, strong quantitative data about what trans people feel about Britain: bluntly there is no better way to tell the story - with the BBC but it said it was "too weak".

But it will pick up any old piece of transhating garbage.
In @yougov.co.uk polling of the trans community, to the best of our knowledge the first of its kind ever conducted, an astonishing 84% said Britain is “fairly unsafe” or “very unsafe” for trans people.

GDP became more directly correlated with increases in quality of living.

When you break that by cutting public spending and not aiming for zero unemployment GDP growth then becomes a measure of how much money the richest have extracted from the economy.

The theory is, and I wish I was making this up, that the poorest will be paid more under neoliberalism because unemployment is when people *choose* not to work because the jobs don’t pay well enough, so companies will be forced to raise minimum wages to fill positions

Neoliberalism is a reverse engineered economic model.

It starts from the premise “it is moral and good to let the rich become as rich as possible” and then they built an economic model to support that idea.

Sorry to bang this drum again, but, the main thing that Neoliberalism as an economic model did was to decouple GDP growth from increases in the standard of living.

This by the way accounts for 80% of GDP growth in the US this year. The US is in a deep recession, this bubble and these people sharing their money around is the only thing hiding that fact.
This is how you do wash trading. All these companies are investing in each other paying each other bits of the same trillion dollars in order to make it look like they’re so close to AGI so investors will keep giving them money to lose.

This is also known as a Junkie’s promise.
I don't care if a politician needs a dentist, I care if they're going to get me a dentist
My hot take on this its great that the journalist acknowledges that the Green Party is at record membership, record polling and has huge momentum.

But why say "dentally challenged?"

Who or what is that serving?

The state of journalism.
Can Zack Polanski turn the Green Party poll surge into votes? www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...
we need to say it as much as possible before it's overused in inappropriate contexts and becomes meaningless
I like 'em. they're fun!

though I do appreciate most people when flying desire as little fun as possible

If your shifting ideal for housing migrants is now some sort of barracks that should be located far away from the domestic population and completely isolated from amenities and infrastructure of regular life then it sounds to me like what you really want, whether you realise it or not, is a camp.
Lib Dem MP here expressing concerns that “migrants” (in fact asylum seekers, or “human beings”, as they’re also known) might be allowed to live next door to people, and near a high street
Alexa can you set piss on fire
you're a terrible advert for the Green Party

if capitalism and racism were a natural part of the human condition, they wouldn’t require multi-trillion dollar military, police, and propaganda campaigns to sustain

Because the Supreme Court ruled that the last ban was illegal because the guy who issued it legally had to do consultation beforehand and he didn’t. The new ban was issued by the Health Minister, who doesn’t have to consult anyone
the mastodon account is because if you find community on pixelfed and peertube, or you need technical support, everyone will be using mastodon

I also suggest looking at DeltaChat as an alternative to Signal (Signal is a US company subject to US laws and heavily dependent on AWS for infrastructure)
I'd suggest just finding a medium sized general purpose instance to get used to the environment, on the understanding that you can migrate but you won't be able to take your posts with you when you do (they won't disappear though)
youtube -> peertube
pixelfed -> instagram

both of these are based on ActivityPub (known as the Fediverse) so if you're going to make accounts I suggest you make a mastodon account as well

all fediverse services require that you choose an instance as the first step which many people find offputting
the problem with paying only a little attention to these people is you miss the details that inform you you should be paying no attention to these people

The lobby groups that co-opt grieving parents like Ian Russell and Esther Ghey and rewrite the stories of their children’s lives and deaths to advocate for legislation that wouldn’t have saved them really makes me sick. That Esther also has ended up in a narrative that victim-blames Brianna is vile
Reposted by meganox
The "online" Esther Ghey is railing against isn't even the constant transphobia of politicians and new outlets and media figures. It's that Brianna Ghey had any access to social media at all, it's about the mental health of a girl who was murdered instead of the hate she was subjected to.
