At the end of August, I was informed that LouAnn was posthumously honored with the title Emeritus Professor for her vast contributions to the field of language development.

I am back after a 5-month hiatus.

In May, my PhD advisor, mentor, and dear friend Dr. LouAnn Gerken died after a multi-year battle against breast cancer. I miss her deeply.

Constantly astonished and frustrated by the fact that so many cognitive scientists claim that LLMs can teach us about how babies learn language. If anything, we should be talking about how the way babies learn language can tell us about how AI will never be “sentient.”

They wanted to pass this evil budget to take away healthcare from millions earlier today. It’s still stuck in the rules committee cause House Dems introduced over 500 amendments and we are lined up to debate on them. Delaying is important. Keep up the pressure on these Congressional Republicans.

I cannot emphasize this enough: Please do not use AI tools as therapy. Not only is it not a good replacement for actual therapy, but your chat logs could be shared with the government, and I don't think you need a reminder that especially right now in the US, that could put you in danger.
