Since I’m new here, I thought I’d repost myTwitter thread from 2018 on #HannahArendt and #Trumphasia: a topic that is unfortunately still relevant today. 1/
Hey, Chuck is in good company—Trump and Musk love Cuomo.

Another big endorsement for Andrew Cuomo. And it only cost $959 million in tax breaks.

Republicans used to not do this because their entire majority depends on a handful of districts in California and New York. They obviously have something else in mind for 2026.

You don’t get to name your kid X Æ A-12 and then say “or whatever his name is” about anyone else.
Elon Musk endorses Cuomo for mayor of New York and makes sure to add some racism in there: “…Mumdumi or whatever his name is.”

i am coming around to the idea of "less than 10 groupchats govern 30-40% of the value of the entire S&P 500"

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Good question, Wired has been killing it, I wonder how long CN/Advance will allow that to continue.
There's still the rumor that Bezos was going to buy Conde Naste which includes Vogue and Wired. I wouldn't be surprised if Wired ends up getting gutted too.

This is the Orbanization of media. Every outlet belongs to regime allied oligarchs.

The American information space is not merely changing; it is undergoing a hostile takeover. It is a deliberate, coordinated campaign by a new class of oligarchs out of Silicon Valley that includes Jef...

I’m doing research for a project and found out about the “don’t buy where you can’t work” movement during the depression, where Black people boycotted and picketed places that wouldn’t hire us. Shout out to everyone who’s not going back to Target!

In fact, if your bar is, “did a big newspaper report it?” you are missing… most of the news. Even the biggest newspapers have fewer reporters and editors than they used to. Local newspapers are gone entirely in large swaths of the country.

There’s no “Alt-Right” anymore and there hasn’t been in years, it’s just The Right
There isn’t really a gap between Fuentes and MAGA. It’s like the Klan and the White Citizen’s Councils. They are part of the same white supremacist movement and largely disagree over tactics.
The gap between the white-supremacist influencer Nick Fuentes and the rest of the right is narrower than it has ever been, @alibreland.bsky.social argues.
Yup. “Systemic risk” means you and your children are going to foot the bill for this.
We are beyond “too big to fail” territory, so, when this bubble pops, you can expect that US taxpayers will be expected to foot the bill to make the investors whole. The result will be another massive redistribution of wealth upward.
Welcome to technofeudalism on steroids: Just 8 of the S&P500 companies account for 35% of the entire US market’s value, 69% of the gains since the market bottomed in April, and almost 80% of the S&P 500’s net income growth in the last year.

the next 20 years of politics, and i wanna be really clear i mean after the fascism is dealt with, are going to be unbearably frustrating and i absolutely think that the current coalition is going to splinter in wild new ways over tech issues and that those will be the core issues of those decades

Republicans don’t need to know how to govern for the same reason the 9/11 hijackers didn’t need to know how to land.
