The system is unsustainable in so many ways! The number of publications is overwhelming, reviewers and editors are hard to find, and the pressure to keep up with everything translates into chronic overwork...We are doing more science, but are we doing better science?

Our results show that editorial diversification is a practical lever for making peer review more inclusive and better aligned with the global distribution of ecological research. 🌱 Fieldwork update from Isla Victoria (Argentina):
We returned to resample vegetation in long-term exclosure plots originally established by @agostinatorres.bsky.social after the removal of pine plantations. These plots allow us to track secondary invasions dynamics and potential community.

Sandra Diaz' talk at #BES2025 was one of the best keynote's I've seen. She managed to weave art, storytelling, and cutting-edge interdisciplinary functional trait ecology together to show us the importance of connecting with people when we do our science. A great start to the conference!

"Reviewer acceptance rates dropped steadily over the past two decades. Early-career researchers had the highest acceptance rates, while senior scholars were least likely to accept review invitations."
