The little I saw from the meeting was so hard to watch. Two different kinds of idiots: one with too much world power who didn't know what elections he was talking about (& probably can't point out Argentina on a map tbh) and the other who went there to humiliate himself (even more).

It's truly revolting to have to hear Trump speak about our coming elections. He doesn't even seem to know that we are not voting for president, but also admiting publicly that they are meddling with them and other of our interests. Milei of course is more than happy to give away our sovereignty

Of course among the challenges the most mentioned ones were money (described in different ways in the figure: dinero, presupuesto, financiamento), but also communication across researchers, institutions, and disciplines. Most thought that we researchers are doing a good job, but could do better.

It was very nice to share successful (and not so) experiences on the management of invasive plants. One important topic was the development of National Management strategies that can transcend political changes in the country, but also how to tackle species that invade across political borders

We had a very successful discussion table at #RAE2025, on the challenges and opportunities of managing invasive plants (and not only). With representatives from Argentina (Priscila Powell), Chile (Rafael Garcia), and Uruguay (Carolina Toranza). Silvia Ziller also sharing her experience online.
