This week 21,000 teachers are taking part in a staggered strike before a full day national strike happens on October 23.

Cartoon. Title: “A Word From the Head Honcho” Image shows PM Christopher Luxon standing in front of a photo of striking teachers. He’s saying, “It’s shameful - shameful - the way teachers are playing politics with children” then he says, “That is my job”

Oh cool, so my 72yo parents are about to be priced out of even a tiny apartment in the place they call home because house prices are about to go up again. Fuck capitalism.

I guess they'll just hire a sexual predator as President and nominate an entire production line of violent abusive pākehā males as candidates, then they'll become completely unquestioned by the media.

That's how this works, right?

Oh cool, the Nats are now using AI to make creepy as hell campaign videos that are completely incoherent and look like utter doghshit. Unsurprisingly, it matches how they do policy - let soulless entities come up with something that screws everyone and the environment.

When the NZ's coalition govt took office nearly two years ago, its #WarOnNature started.

In that time, they've made a bewildering number of changes leading to environmental harm.

Greenpeace Aotearoa head @russelnorman.bsky.social has undertaken the gargantuan task of tracking them all👇

Whoever created the line that technology will save dairy farmers really knew their audience. They can claim to be helping (which they want to do) BUT it acknowledges no wrongdoing on their part (bc farming is natural) AND requires that they make no changes. #nzpol

Scientists fear weaker methane target signals wider retreat from climate action
After cutting methane targets, New Zealand has a choice: shoulder the burden at huge cost - or cause more warming to the planet.

Gov is dropping its contributions

But increasing yours (min 4% from 3%) so your overall pension wont be worse off* ( *outside a 10%ish of us)

But your pay packet will be lighter, this by a gov 'laser focused' on the cost of living

Making sure things are more expensive + you have less money

If taught well, the kids will succeed but yesterday’s PR stunt by Minister Stanford was just that. She wouldn’t know a grapheme from a phoneme.

And by the way, what they’re calling “structured literacy” was started under Labour by Minister Tinnetti who actually has expertise in this area #nzpol

This is why local government is on its arse, great people with the best intentions don't stand a chance because of the way they (aren't) funded

The ordinary person on the street has no concept of the fact that rates are pretty much the only source of revenue for councils. Needs a revamp IMHO

Climate change was hardly mentioned in the last election cycle. The current government is intent on rolling back commitments.
"If they can’t meet the target, they should admit it and fix the policy - not change the target."
I hope Labour will hold to this at the next election. #nzpol
