Me, either, but there are extremely smart people who could figure it out if the political will was there. And if the political will wasn’t for sale, of course.

It’s been done before. This is what historians and policy experts are for, again, provided they’re not for sale.

That’s a start. Wealth redistribution ain’t easy, but it’s possible and it’s necessary.

Unprocessed iPhone photograph of an urban intersection at night. The foreground is dominated by a post with a gold sticker reading “Landlord Neutral 2030”. Amen.

You are correct; Facebook is terrible.

That transphobic scumbag should just do the right thing and retire.

Black-and-white photograph of a Victorian-era building reflected in a water feature, lightly ruffled by the breeze.

I am an immigrant from the US and could not agree more. I’ve lived on stolen land for my entire life, but acknowledgement of this fact is far more a part of public life here. For the sake of justice and vibrancy, Aotearoa should be MORE visibly Māori and Polynesian, not less.

Te Aro, 2023 - bonus for #BlueSkyArtShow #glow
Oversaturated photograph of a fountain in an urban square, the white plasterwork glowing green from lights in the water.

Black-and-white photograph of a wall next to a roller door along a street in a light-industrial area. A hand-painted advertisement reads “SANTA-LAND: DWARFS WANTED!”, under which someone has finger-painted “or dwarves”. I have to admire the grammar-related grind on show here.

Goddamn shame about Pennywize not getting the votes. We need more actual clowns and less metaphorical clowns in politics. Also, more actual swamps.

Cannot believe people still voted for that asshat.

Te Whanganui-a-Tara will miss you. Tēnā rawa atu koe. Kia kaha.

Pokokōhua has clearly met a decent parent of any kind, to say nothing of any supportive parents of trans kids. We protect our gender-nonconforming kids from ghouls like him because trans kids are people, not the property of their parents.

Blurry, unprocessed iPhone photograph of a suburban roofscape that went weird in a fun, spooky way. This rare thing reminds me of fortuitous accidents or unexpected outcomes in a proper darkroom.

This is gloriously, transcendentally stupid. Excellent work.

My mother used to carry a stainless-steel thermos on airplanes in the US to keep her medication cold. The whole family jokingly called it The Bomb before we were given a pre-TSA dressing down by an officer at Stapleton airport in Denver. I was maybe ten and still remember it well.

Oversaturated photograph of a hand-written sign on a glass door, reading, “I’m Broken (Like so many of us)” and featuring a hand-drawn heart and frowning face. Feeling rather out or order myself these days.

Tom Waits.

“How do your pistol and your Bible and your sleeping pills go?
Are you still jumping out of windows in expensive clothes?
Well, I fell in love with your sailor's mouth and your wounded eyes
You better get down on the floor, don't you know this is war?
Tell me, who are you this time?”

Here’s hoping something that suits pops up eventually. I think the bigger danger for public-sector work is dealing with moral injury and compromise.

Not unfounded, that, but advanced degrees also look good for public-sector jobs, where being overqualified is almost normal.
