The leadership I would like to see is one that doesn’t think it’s a win to deliver what people should already have to survive.
The leadership I would like to see knows the opportunity is in what people need to move beyond surviving, into thriving.
That’s the job - and it should show up in policy.

Aspirational, inspiring leadership looks like refusing to equivocate on the absolute bare minimums for people to survive.
It looks like immediately backing vulnerable communities instead of refusing to out of fear of antagonising a base that doesn’t exist.
It’s getting out of the middle of the road.

Warm homes are not aspirational.
Affordable food, power and rent aren’t aspirational.
Health and social services that centre health and people are not aspirational.
These are not inspired ideas. They are basic, 101 hallmarks of a functioning country.
Leadership that gets that *would* be inspiring.

I do enjoy it and have put a bit of thought into setting things up so I can enjoy where I live.

Yesterday was a stunner of a day!

The water was sooo calm and it’s already pretty warm. Here’s what it was like in Bostaquet Bay (southern end of Kawau Island).

Summer is coming #kikorangi

I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Great talk yesterday about the low sports crowds in NZ.
Lots of factors
I hate the poor choice of foods, drinks, carparks which are horribly overpriced
Tickets out of reach of most and don't even take the kids?
Why change the strip/ merch every fucking year?
Has the quality of the sports got worse?

I think ALL war is a climate disaster. A waste of EVERYTHING; people, resources, infrastructure, housing, roads, schools hospitals, communities… that these ship’s dirty crude is burning really only serves to underscore how far we are from focusing on the existential crises we’re in.

"Truckers waiting for hours due to storm damage or while fatal road crashes are investigated are asking if there is a better way."

Yeah there is, trains 🙄

Police insist they have a responsibility to victims and their families to thoroughly investigate road crashes.

For online purchases, if it’s a retailer you’re not familiar with, look up their address in Google street view.
A lot of overseas drop shippers are registering NZ addresses.

Anyway. I picked this one, because of I See Red.
I've seen Tim perform it live (a couple of times) and you can see it's coming.
So, this gentle, balladic version is so refreshing.
And, Sam Hunt.

You know what's worse than firefighters/ nurses/ doctors/ teachers going on strike for better pay and conditions?

Firefighters/ nurses/ doctors/ teachers GOING TO AUSSIE FOR BETTER PAY AND CONDITIONS.

This useless Govt is draining the Motu of its skills. And it doesn't seem to even care.
