Since Broadview is so close to where I grew up and much of my family is near there, I want to be a resource for anyone heading there to protest. To begin with, here are some places where you can go and grab some food not far from the Broadview ICE facility. These are all BIPOC owned and delish.

Ok, update! I forgot that the waterloo one ending up merging with the Oklahoma one and now Waterloo is the Dan Gable museum. Also the strip club is now a yoga studio. Stupid gentrification.

Oh hello was the wrestling bat signal out? I also need to point out that there’s a competing International Wrestling Hall of Fame that’s in Waterloo, Iowa and it has a GIANT mural of Lincoln wrestling without a shirt and it shares a parking lot with a strip club.

My great-grandfather, who came here from Oliveta Citra in 1911 and went on to teach my Southern grandmother (his daughter-in-law) how to cook Italian so that my grandma would make me the most ridiculous Southern/Italian dinners.

The absolute most annoying thing I can say I see people doing after becoming a barista is the amount of people that reach behind the counter into my bar to grab a sleeve. Do you want me writing your emails? Doing your job? Without a care for safety standards?

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

We had Angela Davis speak at my university a couple of years back. One of the many insightful things she said - protest in the way that aligns with your passion. If that’s poetry do poetry or music etc. Because then you will be able to sustain it. If naked bike rides are your passion, 100% do that.

So many people i talk to mention that their out-of-state friends or family have heard little to nothing about what’s going on in Chicago.

Some viral stories like the South Shore apartments raid or Rev. Black getting shot break through but the persistent Fed violence in the streets in lost.
