People think that just because something is normalized that that’s the only way things can be. They cannot or actually will not allow themselves to actualize a world different than what they are used to. A majority of those people are also the ones benefiting from that harmful thing
I have a lot to say about the resurgent young men / masculinity discourse but for now will confine myself to:

I wish I knew how to convince teenage boys/young men is how little of the world actually requires or even invites the hypermisogynist "tough guy" aesthetic

ICE illegally arrested Columbia student Mohsen Mahdawi outside his citizenship appointment solely because of his advocacy in support of Palestinian rights.

His release from detention on bail is a win for free speech.

This is why you got me fucked up.

1. I do not work for free especially not for white people.

2. I do not give a fuck if you or any other white people understand me. Where you got that is beyond me.

When you see innocent people being sent to a hell hole concentration camp in El Salvador, you are horrified.

But the thing that most people in the USA still don't want to reckon with, is that *more than half* of the white people in the USA see the same exact images, *and like it*.

They love it.
I know that JD Vance is a liar but, do they know and do they care? The people who voted for him and Trump?
jd vance just tweeted this

"What process is due" the fucking constitution
You know what you did! That photoshop stole all the booty 🤭
The way that white women and white men talk to one another………. You know us Black people (men and women) actually have a decent relationship 🤭

Sorry if I've seemed distant and emotionally unavailable lately, it's just that everything is a nightmarish horror and many of the things I need in order to ameliorate said horror are completely outside of the realm of possibility, right now, and I don't want to bother you with it.

i want nothing more than for jd vance to become a pariah whose name is a burden on him for the rest of his life.
JD Vance claims the Maryland father the Trump administration mistakenly deported to a slave prison in El Salvador wasn't "father of the year" bc he had "traffic violations," and says "we do not ask permission from far left Democrats before we deport illegal immigrants."

(He's talking about judges)

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge.

As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do.

They can't keep spewing carbon.

They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying.

They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.
Absolute BLOODBATH at HHS/NIH/CDC this morning. Generation of scientists, health care officials being wiped out

What’s weird for me right now and imma call it out for my fellow survivors as well

Is how many people are now discussing the horrors of immigration etc

But have no desire to discus or remedy how they’ve treated traumatized immigrants or their previous dismissals

I see the Great Depression recipe of deportation, tariffs, and funneling money to the wealthy still cooks as well as it did a century ago

it’s about the willingness to engage w complexity, to embrace nuance, & to resist the pull of easy answers. Critical thought requires effort and humility—a recognition that we might be wrong and a commitment to seek truth even when it’s uncomfortable. (2/2)

Short Rant over 😊

Short rant:

I regularly lament the general population’s chronic lack of independent & critical thought. It feels like so many of us outsource our opinions, consuming toxic or half-baked narratives rather than questioning, exploring, or analyzing for ourselves. It’s not just about intelligence;(1/2)
