This is THE WEIRDEST device I've ever used!

Watch me check out this silly piece of oddware from 1985.

Oh, and maybe do some neck stretches first.

Does anyone have past experience with debugging Canon’s nixie calculators, specifically the 164p?

Damn, farewell to a legend. 😢

Maybe now it’s finally time I hang some of the prints I got of his amazing work ages ago. Rest easy, Drew! 🎨

Many thanks to @mac84.bsky.social, @oldskool.org, VCF Midwest and anyone unfortunate enough to have been caught in the audience!

Got a PowerPC #Macintosh and no idea what to do with it? If so, watch this video!

In addition, besides it handling many non-Apple/Mac disks too, I primarily am backing up Apple or Macintosh media, which this was specifically designed for, so for my particular needs it’s better.

However I still have my GW in the event I get another weird disk or obscure format, etc.

I have both, what makes the AppleSauce stand out is the very powerful yet simple to use GUI app.

Plus the ability to easily click a “retry bad” button so the bad sectors are re-read without having to read the whole disk again.

Maybe that’s something the GW can do now, but it couldn’t ages ago.
Trying a badly physically damaged disk, first read attempt. Many passes later, only reading the bad sectors it recovered more data

Tron in 3D, at this Laser IMAX theater was hands-done the best 3D films I’ve experienced. It felt like I was in a theme park ride, really sad they don’t release 3D Blu-ray discs in this country anymore.

If you go see it, see it on a huge screen in 3D - it really added to the fun ride.

The app (w/ this hardware) allows the disks to be simultaneously saved in all the popular Apple II disk formats (.DO, .DSK or .WOZ), with the main selling point of being able to do flux-level images.

There are likely other solutions but since I already had my AppleSauce, this one works for me.

I’m using an AppleSauce floppy disk controller and an original Apple II 5.25” drive. It’s a pricey solution but well worth it if you have a ton of disks.

I’ve been using this & a 3.5” drive for years to backup PC, Atari, Mac/🍎, MSX & Amiga disks. 💾

Woo-hoo! I’m now set up to properly archive Apple II 5.25” disks! 💾

I've been bedridden for the last 10 months, unable to work as I try to get a surgeon and insurance lined up for my operation to let me work again.
If you could send a couple dollars, it'd really help. Time isn't on my side here, and waiting is very expensive.

Back in my home and back to LGR! And we gotta kick it off with copious woodgrain:

Did you know that the Texscan MSI Compuvid Spectragen 4B can make a picture of a Millennium Falcon?

On an unrelated note: I created this screen on a PC with a Python script and sent it over serial.

The page editor works. YAY!

Still some rough edges, but we're getting there.
a spectragen and its brand new page editor application side by side, showing that data made on the page editor shows up properly on the spectragen

also, a millennium falcon using block graphics

Look at this awesome t-shirt my father in law found buried in his closet. He was writing SQL in his sleep before any of these startup bros were even born.
