COVER REVEAL AND PREORDER: The Public Scholar - A Practical Handbook.

"Perry focuses on the practical details of how to approach public scholarship. How do you pitch a piece to an editor? When should you follow or ignore the rules of the genre? And what happens once your piece is out in the world?"

Oh, hello, good morning, this seems very promising for the Star Tribune, who is not something I've felt in...a while.

When Trump was elected, I decided I would try to put my column writing energy towards somewhere local. I wanted to write in my communities about stuff that was happening.

Not all plans work out, but this one seems to be so far. I am looking forward to a slightly more formal process.

The only thing that could make this funnier would be if they ran the same fake punt in a key game¹ later in the season and it got stuffed because the defense recognized the formation.
______
¹ They're the Jets, though, so by definition they never play in a "key game."

yeah different gigs. The contributing columnists aren't on salary. (which is fine for me as I have a salaried job I can't quit, and wouldn't want to)

This game made me think of the George Costanza line on Seinfeld while selling the show about nothing. “You’re watching it because it’s on TV”

The Jets running an audacious fake punt for the sake of being able to run out the clock and end the half is ... perfect.

Half my feed is discussing Pope Leo quoting and analyzing Hannah Arendt while the other half is discussing Peter Thiel trying to find Revelation metaphors in One Piece. I'm gonna go with the Pope on this one - not because anime can't be complex and layered but because Thiel isn't.

Time is running out but we could throw a hail mary! Or ... just sit here and win a moral victory! Moral victory is still a victory right?

That was the stupidest end of half possession I’ve ever seen

Ok we did it! Now ... hand off to the RB off-tackle let's try and gain a few yards.

The US Constitution has no innate defense against lying by public officials and complete shamelessness.

No institutional design can overcome a lawbreaking president, a Congress defending lawbreaking and forfeiting its own power, a Supreme Court that pretends legal text doesn’t count to facilitate lawbreaking, and a citizenry that votes for all that.
Need at least one that wants rule of law. Maybe two.

Oh hey that’s true I’ve been added for a couple pieces a month (and I agree that a DSA columnist would be good!)

The thing is: if you study what I study, this makes complete sense. Many eugenicists of the early 20th C. wanted the “right” people to have more babies! Limit or prohibit contraception to ensure more of the “right” babies, and use targeted sterilizations to ensure fewer of the “wrong” babies.

An HHS source says admin also RIFed entire Office of Population Affairs last night.
“Not a single staff person to run our nation's family planning program or the evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention program. The Office of Adolescent Health which nested within OPA functionally ceases to exist”

The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.

People are really asking me why the mainstream news is barely reporting the closing of special ed dept at DoEd like all our big media companies aren't owned and run by absolute psychopaths.
