This is some vile stuff. And these aren't teenagers. Many are Republican staffers. At least one works for Trump.

I'm sorry, is the Trump Administration talking to a tech platform?

Is it...requesting content moderation?
Today following outreach from @thejusticedept, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target @ICEgov agents in Chicago.
The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.

Remember when Stephen Miller claimed the Chicago apartment raid was on a building “filled with Tren de Aragua terrorists”?

Well, DHS has now dropped the number of alleged TdA members arrested in the building from 2 to 1.
Just one "verified" Tren de Aragua member and one U.S. citizen with an active warrant were among the 37, DHS said, without saying how it had verified that gang affiliation. Others taken that day, the agency said, were "illegal aliens."

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

Unbelievable story of Afghan refugee, a highly vetted fluent English speaker who helped the US against the Taliban and now lives here with his US citizen kids, declared “illegal” and perhaps about to be shipped home by the Trump admin to his likely death

Holy crap. I lived through all of this; as a child, a parent, and a citizen who has heard the phrase "fill her up with ethyl". I was absolutely aware of the effects of lead but not to this level. Thank God for the EPA.

In the reading room today: super 1903 book if activities for girls in which Chapter 1 is building things with a hammer and a saw. There's also making fireworks using the metal from your stays. @theulspeccoll.bsky.social 1903.7. 554
What a girl can make and do, by Lina Beard and Adelia B. Beard. Instructions for making a frankly fabulous reading nook chair from packing boxes, upon which to stretch oneself luxuriantly. Instructions for home-made pyrotechnics, including a Snap-fire made from " a side-steel taken from a dress-stay" to fling your firework gaily into the air. Also a Rushing Comet made from a 3" rubber ball: "How heartily you will laugh when it strikes against some object which drives it flying backward". I think these girls are really quite subversive.

We lived overseas and long distance calling was only if someone died. Even when we returned calling was kept short bc my mother would freak out. I still, at my old age, almost get hives when calls last beyond a couple of minutes. I do like texting though. Serves all the function without the bloat.

Today, Maine observes Indigenous Peoples' Day. We honor the lands and legacies of the Wabanaki Nations — Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, Maliseet, Mi’kmaq, Abenaki.

I look forward to passing legislation in the Senate to protect tribal sovereignty, which has been trampled for too long.

Wife did a gravel order from Lowe’s for me to pick up. I drive to the pick up dock. Guy with a radio comes out. I show him the order receipt. He radios inside. They tell him to tell me to tell my wife to download the app so that she can check in on it to let them know I’m here to pick up the order.

Feelings of global safety reach record high.

How’s that for an unexpected headline? Gallup’s 2025 Global Safety Report finds that 73% of people feel safe walking alone at night, the highest level recorded since Gallup began asking the question.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by ICE in Everett and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

My version of this is that Vought, Yarvin etc represent a kind of braindead right-Gramscianism, which leaves out all the interesting subtleties and treats civil society _only_ as a realm of indoctrination, where one ideological master-narrative can readily be substituted for another.
jamellebouie.net
a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society
thomaszimmer.bsky.social
What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

"By impounding billions of dollars … and aggressively pursuing the illegal use of pocket rescissions, Vought has done everything in his power to gut the federal government piece by piece."
