I’m a huge @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social fan - possibly my fav Labour MP - so back off

Jess Phillips is far and away the best person for this job. In terms of lifetime involvement with the victims of domestic violence and abuse and empathy with the victims you couldn't get a better candidate.

Not a conspiracy theorist, but this is suspicious...1/
Four survivors say Jess Phillips must quit for them to rejoin grooming inquiry
The government is standing by safeguarding minister Jess Phillips as the grooming gang row deepens.

Going after another female minister after Ms Rayner stepped down.
14 yrs the Tories had to do a meaningful inquiry and implement the recommendations but no it’s all Labour’s fault
These vulnerable women are being groomed again by the Tories and Reform for political point scoring

Really feel like this has become a political witch hunt now to try and oust another working class woman from the Labour front bench team.

Feels like someone has 'got to' these vulnerable abuse survivors and exploiting them for political gain.

None of it sits right with me.
Four survivors call for Jess Phillips to quit as row deepens over grooming inquiry
They say they will rejoin the inquiry if Jess Phillips quits, but sources say she has the government's full support.

👇🏻😢
So the two victims of grooming gangs say they will return if Jess Philips steps down.
Mmm I’m not getting a good feeling from those two witnesses.
Jess has been the one for years to bring it to where it is but now it’s all her fault.
Outside forces pushing these poor victims to cause trouble??

There is no one more focussed on ending abuse than Jess Philips!
While I have every sympathy for these victims, trying to manipulate an independent enquiry sounds like someone is taking advantage of their vulnerability for political gain. They want & deserve justice, but ousting MPs isn't the way.
Sadly, given how principled @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social is, she will probably step down so that she doesn’t become an obstacle to progress, and this will be a travesty 😔
A minister has vowed Jess Phillips will stay in post after the four women who resigned from the national grooming gangs inquiry said they could return if the safeguarding minister resigned.

Reclaiming the Union Jack in a way I can get behind 🇬🇧
Absolutely- again, completely glossed over by MSM - odious, dangerous human
Possibly unpopular opinion - Farage’s ‘listen love’ moment should have been a much bigger deal, if not career ending. Especially as he’s spent all summer lecturing us about cultures which have a ‘medieval attitude towards women’.
The very worst part of her ill informed and dangerous rant today were the character slurs made about the phenomenal @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social at great personal cost Jess has consistently and bravely championed the victims of violence against women and girls -Badenoch is an utter disgrace
Hard agree 😢
Of all the MP’s to slur and call for the resignation of she chose one of the most admired and consistent supporters, campaigners and champions of the hideous crimes of violence against women and girls -Kemi Badenoch is a disgrace and @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social is a bloody hero.

Being decent in 2025 feels like civil disobedience.
Agree
People seeking asylum in this country should be able to work here.

This would help them to integrate into our society, financially support themselves, and also reduce the cost to the taxpayer.
🤷🏻‍♀️
‘The threat couldn’t be more urgent and imminent. Yet here we are, still putting our head in the sand.’

@carolecadwalla.bsky.social says it’s ‘peculiar’ that the case of Farage ally Nathan Gill admitting to making pro-Russia speeches for cash isn’t being followed more closely.
This is a really interesting read - helps to understand to a certain extent - reminds me of “all it takes for evil to thrive is for good men to do nothing”

I honestly didn't think I could loathe this man more. And yet, here we are.
Mishal Husain deserves some sort of medal.

"Listen love.." says Nigel Farage to Mishal Husain, someone streets ahead of him intellectually. A little glimpse into the Britain he wants to get back to.
Listen love, it's obvious I'm a mysoginistic cock.

One business we can definitely do without is betfred. A social evil and an economic drag sucking billions out of the economy into the stagnating offshore accounts of the uber rich . Tax them to f—k and back.
Holding govts to ransom.

Billionaire owner of Betfred says if UK govts raises tax it will close gambling shops.

Wants someone else to bear social cost of gambling.

Less tax on gambling means more for shareholders, execs.

Any big business not holding govt to ransom?
Betfred says gambling tax rise in budget will force it to shut all its UK shops
Levies thought to be under consideration will kill profits, say bosses, as gambling firms ramp up lobbying efforts

The polls are lying to us.

10 elections this week.

7 wins LibDems.

1 win Reform by a whisker.
As is Obi - he looks very wise x
Fair point @libdems.org.uk
If Reform win a seat in a by-election it’s rammed down our throats by BBC as a major headline and report on their main page..

And yet the @libdems.org.uk win 6 seats in Surrey and it’s buried away hush hush 🤫

I only came across it by chance just now ..
