In other words, secular things become sacred/acquire the function and qualities of sacredness: the US flag becomes a sacred symbol, the foundational texts acquire the weight of scripture, important civic historical figures are venerated in the same fashion as holy people, etc.

this is a Theophite thesis I’m riffing on here but I think that the conflation of consumer choices with civic choices in both directions has been kind of a disaster.

“supporting” a business by transacting with it is really very different from supporting a politician with your vote.

It's cool that the 1984 sequel ends with the people making Big Brother into a God of Love, which destroying The Party

I just thought it neat when they rescued Love from deep within the egregore of Big Brother, shedding so many self hating skins. How True Faith saved even this God from himself
