A lot of folks may think that just yelling at ICE agents is ineffective, but consider the cumulative psychological toll of being yelled at EVERY DAY when trying to do shit. Even the biggest asshole in the world who doesn't give a shit about other people will feel the pressure.

Do not punish the behaviour you want to see
I mean, it seems pretty obvious when you put it like that, right?
But how many families, when an introvert sibling or child makes an effort to socialize, snarkily say, "So, you've decided to join us"?
Or when someone does something they've had trouble doing, say, "Why can't you do that all the time?" (Happened to me, too often.)
Or any sentence containing the word "finally".
If someone makes a step, a small step, in a direction you want to encourage, encourage it. Don't complain about how it's not enough. Don't bring up previous stuff. Encourage it.
Because I swear to f. cking god there is nothing more soul-killing, more motivation-crushing, than struggling to succeed and finding out that success and failure are both punished.

Everybody can - and almost always does - have a "stupid" phase, and the ability to experience that and learn from it is a key part of learning and growing wiser and smarter. It's a defining human feature.

A "nazi" phase is distinct from this, mostly in that only *nazis* have a nazi phase.

I really am not proud of large pieces of my life but I can say I wasn't ever a nazi, never had a nazi phase, and it's starting to seem like all the excuses that people make for some of that shit is just making them seem awfully fucking suspicious.

I think the problem here is that this isn't really a game of shutdown chicken with Dems vs. GOP. It's a game of shutdown chicken with the media, who is currently writing about how it's NIMBY to criticize bulldozing the White House.
