…seems to kill the ability to navigate present-day politics.

What amount of political messaging and strategy will counter that ingrained trinity? Someone once said that some will shit their own pants if their enemy has to smell it.

Re-upping this from November. Some of us have consistently tried to warn about what was to come. Many of us were treated as hysterical.

Richard Hofsteadter’s “Anti-intellectualism In American Life”, published in 1963 is eye-opening.

Anti-intellectualism has been a central theme pretty much since the beginning of US history.

“Just leave the country” is not a solution to fascism.

A large number of people can’t even leave their city or state

They’re trapped in legislative poverty. They’re disabled. They have families they can’t uproot or leave behind

The reasons are endless, but make no mistake, leaving is a privilege
I worked for a small, local metal fabricator, but was laid off in April due to the price fluctuations in steel and aluminum. Estimates can’t always be reworked for projects happening months away, and the price increases at time of purchase seriously affected cash flow.

Longest Senate filibusters ever:

Strom Thurmond - opposing voting rights for black people

Ted Cruz - opposing health care for poor people

Cory Booker - opposing fascism

Cory Booker has just broken Strom Thurmond's record for longest Senate filibuster ever, which stood for 68 years.

Thurmond set it objecting to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Booker set it arguing against authoritarianism.

May Strom's name be forgotten and his memory erased.

Call Corey Booker’s office and thank him for standing up for Democratic principles! The Congressional Switchboard is (202) 224-3121. Ask for Corey Booker!

Shout out to Jeffrey Goldberg for reporting on this now instead of waiting two years to put it in a book.

I appreciate that Jeffrey Goldberg did not sit on this news for a book that he writes two years from now

America’s foremost expert on not being up to the task has weighed in!
These people are clearly not up for the job.
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social. theatln.tc/AmsjsuT6

BINGO.

There is no Captain America. There is only.... America. Get in community.
The ongoing demand for a single voice despite all organizing advice to the contrary is going to end the way these things always do. The charismatic leader of a resistance movement is killed. It's only movie magic that gives them happily ever after

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

🚨 Trump and Musk want to fire federal workers, gut public services, and hand our government to billionaires. We’re not letting that happen.

📢 Join us this Thursday at 8PM ET for a mass call to hear how we fight back—together.
