Traditionally that’s the trade off — the cop proves their authority and then expects people to respect it.

ICE refuses to give us proof but demands we respect them as if they had.

That’s not how this works
kevinmkruse.bsky.social
I need a montage of famous cops in movies and TV shows flashing their badges and announcing their names, followed by a stream of masked ICE guys refusing to give theirs.

The Port Authority of NY and NJ manages Newark, LaGuardia, Kennedy, Stewart, and Teterboro airports.

Call their public comment line at 212-435-7000 to tell them what you think of playing this likely-illegal political message.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

No one is trying to shame them. By pointing out their hypocrisy we’re letting those on the sidelines know they shouldn’t trust them.

Haven't read the piece but Dan is a solid historian who's done some great work on the religious right and pro-life movement.

That said, yeah, this seems like something you'd task a sociologist with?
