Last year Wood MacKenzie said that "decisive action" is needed to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Today it's promoting its "AI-powered analysis" to help the oil industry "unlock hundreds of billions of barrels of additional supply." It even has a catchy marketing slogan: "Every Last Drop."

It really depends whether you like to see technology exist for its own sake, or if you think technology should serve the goals of directly bettering the lives of people when it's deployed

The thing about solar geoengineering is that once you start you cannot stop *ever* unless somehow you have already removed all the multi-billions of tons of carbon emitted since the day you started.

If you stop at the higher CO2 concentration you get virtually instantaneous catastrophic heating.
