“It doth not, good sir!”

Totally. Hard to find that kind of mix in the US, I think, because it doesn’t have the same kind of panel show culture. Can’t imagine a US equivalent of Celia Imrie signing up for a show like Traitors.
Agreed! Tho I’m glad they got ordinary joe Traitors up and running first - Canada & the US are just celeb versions and IMO it’s somehow less satisfying.

We'd better build more AI data centers, AI will fix this problem for us --

*waits five years*

The oceans have boiled and the drinking water is gone but at least all the intellectual property has been stolen and now I can use AI to create a really accurate representation of Batman fucking Pikachu

If you’re a man in the room and a public official says this about your female colleague, you don’t continue as if nothing happened.
Trump ignores a question from a woman reporter but says, "I just like to watch her talk. Good job. Thank you darling."

The use of AI to marionette a woman whose tortured existence was spent trying to carve her own life and identity out of the space men forced her into is both damningly macabre and a surprisingly perfect encapsulation of the problems with this ghoulish use of technology.

The feature I directed, IMPOSSIBLE HORROR, is playing at The University of Toronto this Wednesday @ 8:00 PM!

I'll be there to introduce it, and do a Q&A, so come one, come all — it's totally FREE!

They even cut a very cool new trailer for it:

The brother of federal Industry Minister, Mélanie Joly, is the president and CEO of Intelcom, a courier company that exploits subcontracted delivery drivers for pennies per package. It stands to benefit mightily from the dismantlement and privatization of public postal services in Canada.
The privatization crisis at Canada Post
Canada Post is under attack. Political favouritism, privatized delivery, and precarious subcontracting are putting workers and public service at risk. From Intelcom’s exploitative practices to the gov...

The Canadian Government is seeking input around AI. I strongly encourage everyone to give it - and not just because the questions make clear the focus is squarely not on public safety or the climate risks of the technology.

The fact that I can’t immediately tell if a video is AI now actually makes me sick to my stomach. I cannot believe there are people who think this is a good thing

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

I wrote an episode of television in 18 hours, taking into consideration actor availability, daylight shooting hours, standing sets, turnaround times, unit moves, weather cover, budget shortfalls, oh and block shooting with another episode which had already started prep. GenAI can gargle my balls.
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.
