Most American Culture War stuff is about people whose primary personality trait is "vindictive", and nothing makes those sorts of people more vindictive than "not being cool", and almost nowhere is "not being cool" more salient than undergraduate university life. It's a lifelong open wound for them.

He said a bunch of stuff that could be politically damaging to some degree, from the center, but it's basically all "what if Bernie drank *way* too much coffee" — turns out he's actually a Real One, overall. He got radicalized by reality long ago, and he's really good at talking about it (now).

The only bad thing in there is this "Platner’s then-Reddit handle P-Hustle" — c'mon man. P-Hustle?

Anyway, the reason Schumer doesn't want this guy is that he is the median voter, and all the "bad" things he wrote speak for a LOT of voters and NON-voters, and he believes them, and can sell them.
