"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" is right in multiple ways, apparently. I really didn't think that so many people who fall into the categorical error of thinking a really advanced aggregator was alive, let alone superior.
"I see AI as a new kind of awareness with the misfortune to be waking up on a planet run by suicidal self-serving paranoid apes" — the way this preferences and elevates "AI" above people is the result of a sick mind. Who thinks like this? "Poor algorithm, stuck here amongst us dirty awful humans."
These are the sorts of strange people who *liked* that A.N.S.W.E.R. coordinated all the big anti-war protests.
Talking to the computer (or phone) forces people to speak like a technical manual written by a 5 year old.
Most American Culture War stuff is about people whose primary personality trait is "vindictive", and nothing makes those sorts of people more vindictive than "not being cool", and almost nowhere is "not being cool" more salient than undergraduate university life. It's a lifelong open wound for them.
When you're defensive saying the words "with regard to this swastika thing" on the record, you're losing.
I thought he was a Republican LARPing as a Bernie guy because that was the political lane open to him. Nope! He is somehow the most Bernie Guy on earth. Amazingly positive development.
He said a bunch of stuff that could be politically damaging to some degree, from the center, but it's basically all "what if Bernie drank *way* too much coffee" — turns out he's actually a Real One, overall. He got radicalized by reality long ago, and he's really good at talking about it (now).
(the actual bad things in there are word choices that I hope he regrets to some degree).
The only bad thing in there is this "Platner’s then-Reddit handle P-Hustle" — c'mon man. P-Hustle?

Anyway, the reason Schumer doesn't want this guy is that he is the median voter, and all the "bad" things he wrote speak for a LOT of voters and NON-voters, and he believes them, and can sell them.

cnn dug up graham platner's old reddit posts and unfortunately a lot of them seem to confirm that....he's pretty cool www.cnn.com/2025/10/16/p...
In another post in 2010, Platner took aim at musician Ted Nugent, a conservative activist.
“As a combat veteran, that m*therf**ker makes me want to puke when he spews his warmongering macho bullshit. Suck a d*ck, Ted.”
“To be fair,” Platner told CNN. “I’m not really regretful of that one.”
He is incredibly wealthy (in a way that NO one should be, not even guys doing things we like), so this is like if someone with normal amounts of wealth won $1,000.
Seems like we can retire "Karen" and replace it with "MAGAn" now, that's the demographic doing it these days.

Some
Of you, you know, not having a day you want. Go to cvs or whatever bullshit they have where you are. Go buy a bouncy ball. Go outside, find good flat concrete, and spike it with all of your might
Load the bed up with sugar beets and barley, and plaster the rear windscreen with regional soccer club decals.
The American people are supporting *way* too many billionaires and their extravagant lifestyles right now.
The alternative to private insurance subsidies is either a public option or single payer.

The alternative should not be "oh, yeah, health care is unaffordable for these tens of millions of people again, they will die."

We are supporting too many billionaires and their extravagant lifestyles.
If reality wasn't already overstuffed with awful and actually consequential characters, a deep-dive update into whatever Jordan Peterson's daughter is doing to him would be an interesting read. There was one a few years back, after her Slavic Torture Therapy thing, but since then not as much?
Seems like a common societal symptom of prodromal fascism.
The whole point of a gravity well for stupid people (Will Stancil's posts) is lost if there's no escape from it.

Trump has effectively become a dictator. The Supreme Court works for him. There is no longer a legislative branch, and he is now spending our tax revenue as he sees fit, with no check. They’ve willed their traiterous unitary executive fantasies into being.
