We were all relieved that this didn’t happen on 9/11.

I'm a hardliner when it comes to vaccines. Antivaxx dogma is entitled to no deference because it poses a danger to everyone, including the vaccinated and the immunocompromised.

The US Navy could easily interdict these vessels.

Destroying them and murdering those on board are extrajudicial killings which do not seem justified based on everything we know about these operations.

Those involved are subject to both US and international criminal liability if this is the case.
SecDef announcing another (9th) lethal strike, again in the Pacific against an unspecified "designated terrorist organization."

Claims these "DTOs are the 'Al Qaeda' of our hemisphere.

Nope.

No armed attack on US like 9/11.

No AUMF.

No armed conflict.

Just more lawless premeditated killing.

Demolishing US history to build a cheap knock off of a Winter Palace ballroom seems a bit on the nose, writers.

I thought we nuked our own government, ended science, and left millions of people around the world to suffer & starve for “efficiency”?

Oh right, that was some BS cover for just spending however the president wants outside the law. Got it.

Last night, at 6:23pm in DC, Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley took the Senate floor. And he held it for 22 hours and 39 minutes, but it wasn’t about that. He wasn’t trying to break a record, even though he did (Longest speech by an Oregonian and third longest in Senate history),

If you read one thing today about public health, make it this one from Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, on the CDC under RFK Jr and how we go forward.

“We should practice detachment from the organizations and focus on the mission. And the mission is the health of the public.”

Today, the White House Press Secretary told the country that this ridiculous damn ballroom is “the president’s main priority”…not reopening the government, not lowering the cost of groceries, not lowering the cost of housing, not lowering the cost of healthcare….building a ballroom

Billionaires are using a loophole to avoid Medicare taxes. Closing it — and eliminating other ways around the tax for wealthy business owners — could raise more than $250 billion over 10 years for the program.

How a Decades-Old Loophole Lets Billionaires Avoid Medicare Taxes
Some of Wall Street’s richest and most powerful figures are using a legal loophole to avoid paying millions of dollars in taxes earmarked for health care, a ProPublica investigation found.

It flies under the radar because it is overwhelmed by the sheer repulsiveness of the physical destruction of the east wing, but there is no way that a president should be allowed to use private money to change public property. It circumvents the power of the purse.

I am already in multiple text and email chains trying to help get people food, and we haven't even gotten to Nov 1 bills due or shutdown consequences yet
For DC, this combined with federal workers who are furloughed now needing to access the local food banks, will be devastating
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.
I like both living and walking 😄
so say all of us with medically complicated pregnancy histories
i don't think my wife should be dead :)

Unconscionable. The state just told clergy it’s fine to protect abusers if they confess in the right room.

Children deserve safety, not religious loopholes.
Washington officials caved.

Priests who hear confessions of child abuse no longer have to report them to law enforcement.

Religious leaders fought to protect predators over children—and they got what they wanted.

After settlement, Catholic priests in Washington can keep sex predators' confessions secret

Keep an eye out for those who need help
Keep an eye out for neighbors in need
Donate to food banks + programs that provide meals for kids, families, veterans, working & elderly poor /1
With Trump and his cronies using the shutdown as cover to shut off the food stamp program, food banks will soon be flooded with demand from the 42 million Americans--including 16 million kids--who rely on the program. Which means the rest of us will need to step up and give whatever we can.

Enough is enough. Adelita Grijalva was elected on September 23. The people of Arizona have a right to be represented in Congress.

During today’s pro forma session, when the House is called to order I will seek unanimous consent to insist upon the swearing-in of Adelita Grijalva.

We’re not going anywhere. I’m here with Leader Jeffries and Adelita Grijalva. Speaker Johnson must swear her in.
