Also, the coffee buzz is fantastic after abstaining for so long!
👋 from PDX. Sorry but glad you have a soft landing.
Don't I know it. I'm in year three of it now. It breaks my heart that so many children are suffering this shittiness. And infuriates me that RFK Jr wants to add to their ranks.
Long Covid Is Real — And It’s Changing an Entire Generation

After all these years, you'd think people would have learned to not feed the trolls.

Oh, no! I'm so scared of catching it again. I was great in early summer and accomplished amazing things in transforming my lawn to wildflower meadows and veggie beds. Then I crashed in late August and left half my outside work undone. But I'm coming out of it again. I hear you on the sleep, though.
It just tasted awful to me. Saddest thing. Have you come all the way out of it yet? I'm getting there.
After two years post-covid, coffee finally tasted good to me again. Of course, I can't afford it now. Sigh.
Sounds like an octogenarian I know well (who shall also remain nameless).

A terrific AFP fact check uses reverse image searches to expose how a White House video took scenes from Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Nebraska and lied that they showed "Chicago is in chaos."

TAKE ACTION: The Election Assistance Commission is accepting public comments on this request for a “show-your-papers” requirement. Will you speak out against this attack on the freedom to vote?

If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

I like to think that it’s not that the Senate is ignoring its rules, but that the rules have changed. If that’s the case, it makes it even more scandalous that the Senate is refusing to publish its precedents.
Meanwhile, a certain other upper house still hasn’t revised its book of precedents, nearly two decades after deciding to do so.

Remember, brown 13-year-olds are hardened menaces to society, but 30-something Republican Hitler afficionados in positions of power are just li’l guys.

A Missouri appeals court unanimously rejected arguments by the attorney general that abortion regulations do not cause "irreparable harm."

It's somehow both wildly underreported and just out in the open that the vice president is either a neo-Nazi or, at a bare minimum, a neo-Nazi fellow traveler.
Fascinating. Politico notes that when notified of the texts, many state-level Republicans fired or condemned these cretins. Now Vance emerges to excuse the racism, and calls the reaction to it "pearl clutching."

He seems determined to purge the party of its last enclaves of decency.

Liberals hit back at Vance's blunt dismissal of racist, antisemitic and misogynistic messages leaked from a Young Republicans group chat.

“We are currently clean on OPSEC”
Currently on a flight to Japan watching a Pentagon Assistant Press Secretary (Riley Podleski) work on a document in the open on her laptop. She spent the last hour copy and pasting headlines from articles critical of the Administration’s hostility toward the 1st amendment.
And tasty! We’ve been gorging on them and still had plenty left over for the winter.
Three trays of red and yellow dried tomatoes. Table covered with jars of preserved tomatoes, peaches, and pickles
Oops. Forgot alt text. That’s just a whole lot of green and partially ripe tomatoes.
I guess summer is really over. Next up, green tomato chutney.

The whites are literally arguing it's literally *unconstitutional* if they're not OVERREPRESNTED in Congress.
Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.
