While we were talking on Saturday night about the current state of SNAP litigation in the United States, U.S. District Court Chief Judge John J McConnell, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island was issuing a written order that changed the state of play. Accordingly, instead of my editing the video from the live into something post-able, we'll proceed with this post:

The short version: a federal district court has ordered the Trump Administration to tell the court by noon today (Monday 11/3) if USDA will use the entire SNAP contingency fund and other available monies to fully fund November SNAP aid (if so, USDA must move that money today, 11/3) or if USDA will only use all of the SNAP contingency fund (not tapping any other monies) in order to partially fund SNAP for November (if so, USDA must move money by November 5, 2025).

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

Today I made the decision to withdraw from ISA this coming Spring and will not be renewing my membership. I honestly encourage my colleagues to do the same, as the organization's conduct this past year has been completely unacceptable.

1. Run a “we do hard things” campaign across southern and rust belt states. Invest heavily in local, state and regional social infrastructure. Sponser later hours at a library, build a skate park…

If I were to sum up my advice to the Democratic party leadership about how to defeat Trumpism, it would be to set aside policy for now and focus instead on articulating a vision of what American society should look like and what role the US should play in a rapidly changing world today.

to apply for telework, mgmt required us to watch a series of video modules. i was struck by the rubric below. it reads: “The Right to Refuse means that you have the right to refuse work which you reasonably believe is dangerous.”

*this right does not apply to unmitigated COVID in the workplace.

This has been a really rough few days. I recently learned of a controversy around our book THE PRINCESS IN BLACK AND THE PRINCE IN PINK. Some were outraged that Deseret Book carried it (a chain of bookstores in the west). Deseret Book appears to have complied to their demands and removed it. 1/

500 people volunteered to help and they still ran out of food.

Remember for every one person a food bank feeds, SNAP feeds 9.

By turning off food assistance the regime is starving Americans.
