This is standard everywhere, and this is why it's important to be skeptical about scary articles about overpopulation.

The planet population hitting 9B would be manageable if we could all get together and deal with our billionaire problem.
Ireland's wealthiest households create significantly more carbon emissions than lower-earners, according to a new report from Oxfam Ireland.

For those keeping count, Simon Harris "took to social media" to decry the shooting of Charlie Kirk the following day. He's gone cycling today, apparently.
'Member all the Irish wankers bemoaning "political violence" when Charlie Kirk was murdered - has anyone seen if they have anything to say about the attempted murder of women and children in the Drogheda IPAS centre?
No?
Funny, that.

Harris will be outraged at any hint of a connection between his comments & the arson attack. So outraged he won't get round to explaining himself.

Micheál Martin will find it repugnant that people are making such a connection. So repugnant he won't get round to explaining himself.
Nash: “I'm in no way saying that there's any causal link between remarks made by politicians last week and a criminal act here at Drogheda, but people need to be sensitive with their language…. They need to be responsible.”

Jim saying it was fireworks this morning before it was definite what started the fire (flammable substance deliberately put on stairs & set alight) is illustrative of so much. Rush to minimise without facts. In the absence of them, wait. It’s as bad as it looked. So much worse than fireworks

MM of course talking about off shore deportation hubs has nothing whatsoever to do with the arson attack. These aren't related at all, no Sir
I condemn in the strongest terms the deeply disturbing incident at the IPAS centre in Drogheda. To put vulnerable families, including young children, at risk is abhorrent and has no place in our society.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this horrifying experience.

"What you’re looking at here is economic migration, primarily, and basically, people shouldn’t come to Ireland if they know deep down that they’re not going [to be granted asylum].” - Micheal Martin on Thursday.
You may as well have lit the touch-paper yourself, Taioseach.

Newton Emerson writing about Heather Humphreys facing a sectarian storm during the election. Gwan and shite lad.
Saw a video with some lad describing the soc dems as literal communists who are in government now. Things feel like they’re heading towards American levels of dumbness and delusion.

Love that the Burke family are such a national problem that the Irish Times has published an advice column on what to do if you're doorstepped by one of them -- because it could apparently happen to any of us, at any time.

More than 80 people killed by the IDF overnight in Gaza, including many children.

This morning: "Oh the ceasefire is back on."
BREAKING: The Israeli military says the ceasefire in Gaza is back in effect after it carried out heavy airstrikes across the Palestinian territory. The death toll from the overnight strikes climbed to 81, according to hospital officials.

Noel Thomas told Conor Gallagher he doesn't really now what the "IRB" are about, but that "what they're talking about is wonderful"

they talked about setting up their own courts and government at a meeting where Noel Thomas spoke

serious questions here

given his involvement with a seditious cult of conspiracists, I'd love for journalists covering this by-election to ask Cllr. Thomas some simple questions like "do you believe laws passed by Dáil Éireann are real" and "do you think it's okay for people to set up their own courts"

Starting to think that not constitutional design, nor affective polarisation, nor declining institutional trust, but bothsidesism will be what finally does for democracy.
Is the Reform MP who says she’s driven mad by TV adverts full of Black & Asian people a racist or realist? How many migrants would the Tories expel? & should the UK be selling fighter jets to Türkiye?

did anyone else think it was weird for Justin Kelly to describe the rioters at Citywest as "a mob intent on violence against gardaí" when they were a mob intent on violence against Citywest residents and the gardaí were just between them and their targets?
I won’t take any of the presidential election system is undemocratic takes seriously while the Seanad is right there.

And people say the British press doesn't know anything about Ireland. They got this scoop, didn't they.
They lost because of woke while the actually progressive candidate won by a landslide. Utter clowns.
Connolly, a very left wing politician, got more votes than any other president. I’m tired of the likes of Sheahan putting forward their own leanings as if they have a crystal ball that can see into the hearts of voters.
Fionnán Sheahan has suggested that a possible reason HH did so badly is because FG have gone 'too woke'

Aside from the full body cringe of heading a grown man use that word in earnest, it is comforting that Fionnán remains wrong about absolutely everything.

This is bull.

Steen has done no public service and had ample time to prepare a campaign if she was actually bothered.

Sheridan wasn't bothered to have documents right for LA meetings.

Who else came close to actually trying to get on the ballot?

Far-right twats who wanted the free publicity?
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the Oireachtas may have to look at changing the process by which a person gets on the ballot in presidential elections, which he described as "restrictive".

The left-wing candidate will end up with almost double the total of all other choices combined.
Every opinion columnist tomorrow: “The real story here is all the spoiled votes.”

So if the spoiled vote is between 12-13% and with the right wing / St Maria of the holy handbag crowd claiming this vote - Catherine Connolly still wins the election with a commanding win, on or over 60% #speirgorm #aras25
