Hello, new followers! I'm a freelance comic book editor, currently working on MONSTRESS from Image. Previous projects include TWO GRAVES and MOTOR CRUSH, also from Image, and about a decade ago I was an assistant editor on a whole bunch of X-Men books. I'm always on the lookout for new projects!
(Sorry for deleting and redoing the post -- I hit send before the important Supergirl context.)
I genuinely don't know what to make of the cover of this week's Princeton Alumni Weekly being a Jim Lee drawing of MacKenzie Scott as Supergirl with the S as a dollar sign. (It's for a piece about her philanthropy, but, uh.)
Overlapping paisley is playing with fire.
It's more that people try for something different because they don't believe it could be pronounced that way, but: Metuchen.
What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?
As a comics fan/editor the discourse around variant covers for music albums feels like exhausting deja vu.
Morning show DJ having an existential crisis about how he can stay jocular after reading out news on ICE raids in Chicago.
Nice of the gym TV to visually represent the opposite world Fox News exists in.
This train of thought inspired, oddly, by watching the 70s Salem's Lot miniseries.
I guess you could say the Silver Surfer is Galactus's Renfield.
I just heard "Da Turdy Point Buck" for the first time, and this must be how my Wisconsin native roommate felt when I tried to explain that "Dominick the Donkey" is a Christmas staple.

Gentle reminder that in the late '50s, the U.S. government did not censor comics. Comics companies censored themselves.

Not sure why that crossed my mind today but there it is...
Ooh, thanks for the tip! I love the cheese one.

Just so I'm clear:

TV host says we should kill every homeless person? No big deal

TV host says the right must "go to war" with the left? Pfft.

TV host says the government is cracking down on critics? Well, the government cracks down on him for the criticism.

Free speech, everyone.

70s Robert Redford will always be my mental image of Captain America.
Oh gosh! I'm glad those other scary things were avoided, but that's so much!
Today I went in a canoe trip down part of the Wisconsin River with my roommate and our friend Dan and his wife. We got out at a sandbar halfway through for snacks and drinks. Then I realized we were literally living the plot of Dan's Song by Frank Turner.

LRT: I remember no consequences when creators told their critics to go drown in hobo piss.

Shameful to see a creator fired off a book and the whole series immediately cancelled on the same day because she was glib about the murder of someone who famously said that people like her should be stoned to death.
I'm currently happy in my day job; otherwise I'd seriously consider this. I hope cool people apply!

Yes, I did mask at the appointment!
I am now sitting in a Wisconsin Walgreens to get my COVID and flu shots. Something went wrong with my insurance at an understaffed CVS yesterday, but at Walgreens it processed properly and I just had to attest to having a high-risk condition.
Nope. My insurance wasn't processing at all and the pharmacist didn't know what to do so I just had to leave.
