It appears Trump is determined to provoke civil unrest in Chicago. Every effort to appease him results only in escalation by Trump’s goons. He’s trying our patience, and not all of us are saints.

It appears ICE/CBP chased a vehicle, conducted a dangerous maneuver to intentionally cause a crash, then later tear-gassed bystanders.

Developing: per photographer Matthew Kaplan and others on scene, neighbors are currently facing dozens of Border Patrol agents on the east side. Feds have been all over the area, some kidnappings confirmed. Saw one gas canister deployed on FB live earlier.

Pritzker *has* made a difference at the Broadview Detention Center. We had to switch from gas masks to helmets. And now he’s threatening to make us wear both.

Depends on turnout. When the Deputy Chief made that announcement the Loop was jammed with people trying to get to the park. They just got tired of that, and started marching. It became a lot of marches, led by folks who just happened to be in front of a crowd, making it up as they went along.

It should be safe from Trump’s goons, unless Trump wants to provoke civil unrest. Putting ICE or CBP on this crowd would likely do that. They don’t have the horses for that. He’d be sacrificing a goon squad for a different objective. I wouldn’t want to be on that goon squad.

At the Women’s March I monitored their radio. I heard the deputy chief’s voice announce: “OK, this group’s too big for a march, and the organizers agree.”

That’s an issue when you negotiate with them. They methodically talk you into standing still in the park, where you’re contained, and disturb nothing. Even though there’s not much to disturb downtown on a Saturday downtown.

The Chicago No Kings March already got moved from Daley Plaza to Grant Park because they expect a bigger turnout. There's a decent chance this might dwarf the 2017 Women's March in Chicago, which was *huge*.

She was active in Chicago so I’m biased. But she was the first US Saint. And Irish knew what they were doing when we picked a Saint for our symbol. Not all saints are beyond reproach but Patrick and Frances are.
