Or, I should say, the *landowner*; they're not necessarily the same entity. But a lot of "this project isn't economical" discourse fundamentally boils down to "the landowner and developer are playing chicken over the land value." Taxing land as if it's developed would solve that pretty quickly.

The deeper issue here is that while owners of hypothetical units would not escape taxation by keeping their units empty, the developer escapes taxation by keeping the land empty.

The City should be lobbying the province for tax assessments that reflect the value created by planning permissions.

Your media release about the downgrade to the City's credit rating (included below) does not mention the expected additional costs of financing due to the credit rating downgrade.

What does the City Auditor think will be the financial impact on all projected future borrowing (as laid out in the 2024-25 capital budget) of this downgrade, assuming the rate stays stable at AA+ instead of AAA as the release suggests?
Suggesting this rating will be "stable" is extremely concerning.

This has been as much about a domestic digital & PR campaign as it is about a US ad campaign.

Those US ads are essentially Ford & the PC's own brand advertising. "Protect Ontario".

It's been a comms win for Ford and helped him win an election. But it's now working against Canada's interests.

Everyone please diligently check your candy this year. I cracked open a snickers bar and not only did I find a copper ingot, but it was of poor quality.
