I have some bad news for you about NPR
Soliciting information from officials is a journalist's job.

The Pentagon's new press policy would make reporters "stenographers parroting press releases, not watchdogs holding government officials accountable," explains @npr.org's Tom Bowman.
Opinion: Why I'm handing in my Pentagon press pass
Tom Bowman has held his Pentagon press pass for 28 years. He says the Pentagon's new media policy makes it impossible to be a journalist, which means finding out what's really going on behind the scen...

very funny that JD Vance has so little to do with his time that he goes on podcasts to defend 30-year-old men for saying how much they love Hitler
JD Vance dismisses Young Republicans who in a group chat said "I love Hitler" and joked about slavery and rape as "a bunch of kids" who "told stupid jokes" and adds that "most of the stupid things I did when I was a teenager and young adult, they're not on the internet."

This lede is super buried - there's a secret list of terrorist organizations that even Congress doesn't get to see???
“How many new terrorist organizations are we currently in armed conflict with, and could you name them?” Slotkin asked.

Young, who has been nominated to be the Army’s next general counsel, told Slotkin: “Senator, it may be more appropriate to discuss that with you in a closed session.”

Slotkin replied that “we couldn’t get it in a closed session” held with the Defense Department’s new general counsel.

“I was a CIA officer and helped with targeting. I have no problem with going after these cartels,” she added. “I have no problem designating terrorist organizations in general. But we’ve never had an instance where there’s a secret list of what I understand to be dozens of new terrorist organizations that the American public and certainly the oversight committees don’t get to know.”

These strikes are illegal for about 7 reasons:
1. Not self-defense
2. No (or any) Congressional authorization
3. No evidence of criminal wrongdoing
4. Occurred in int'l waters
5. No open state of hostilities
6. Criminal groups are not terrorists legally
7. No id on people killed or group targeted

Trump has no legal authority, "standing" or otherwise, to order the killing of people in international waters for unsubstantiated accusations of non-capital crimes.

Calling them "narcoterrorists" does not make it right or legal to order their deaths without any due process.
Trump announces another strike "just off the Coast of Venezuela" that killed 6 people
Under my Standing Authorities as Commander-in-Chief, this morning, the Secretary of War, ordered a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO) conducting narcotrafficking in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility — just off the Coast of Venezuela. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was trafficking narcotics, was associated with illicit narcoterrorist networks, and was transiting along a known DTO route. The strike was conducted in International Waters, and six male narcoterrorists aboard the vessel were killed in the strike. No U.S. Forces were harmed. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!!!!

I AM really struggling with how little NBA talk there is on here and I'm tired of pretending I'm not. Ratio me, it's a badge of honor.

The idea that political dissent can only be the product of “paid protesters” or “outside agitators” has a long history. Here is the Mississippi columnist Tom Ethridge in June 1963 concerned that attendees at the upcoming March on Washington might be “whipped into a frenzy by skilled agitators.”
“Aug 28 has been set as the date for this mass invasion of the captial by upward of 100,000 negroes…”

“I spent three nights and three days in federal custody. During that time, I was never told what I was charged with, was not allowed to shower despite being covered in tear gas and pepper spray, had no phone call to my family, and no access to an attorney.” - George Retes, U.S. citizen and veteran.
I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.
Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

Around the corner from me, a hit and run driver ran over the foot of a guy wearing a high-vis vest and killed his dog. How would that driver be found and held to consequences (so they don’t do that again, or worse) without police?
