Hochul: "They promised to extract revenge on their political enemies & apparently any state that has a D gov. Tell me how Florida & Texas could receive these same funds w/o having to go to court? They're playing politics, but more than that, they're playing with people's lives. And that's abhorrent"

Chris Murphy: "This is a country that's falling apart because Trump is in the middle of an authoritarian takeover. We're not on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We're in the middle of it ... I have no moral obligation to vote for a budget that literally funds the destruction of our democracy"

"Bobby, should I stand or sit?" -- in an unusual move, Trump takes a seat while other speakers speak (usually he stands behind them)

Roberts has always felt that the suggestion that white people might discriminate on the basis of race is a profound moral injustice, much greater than black people being denied the right to vote bsky.app/profile/jayw...
Everything about John Roberts's approach to the Voting Rights Act makes sense when you remember that John Roberts has has always been hostile to the Voting Rights Act, never believed it was appropriate, and has spent most of his 45-year legal career working to hollow it out.
One of the Biggest Cases of the Supreme Court’s Term Is John Roberts’ Decadeslong Pet Project
If there’s one thing the Roberts court has been consistent on, it’s this.

American fascists are, obviously, very scared about how big a protest "No Kings" will be this weekend, as seen by their hysterical, dishonest rhetoric about it.

Let's make their fears come true by showing up on October 18

So the feds have now directed states NOT to send out November SNAP benefits.

A whole bunch of people are going to go hungry this Thanksgiving.

FUCK THAT HEARTLESS DUDE!

All he does is hurt people.

If you haven’t donated to a food bank recently, now is a good time to start.

Every time a Democrat gets caught on tape saying like “Some Trump voters are racist” we have a national scandal and JD Vance demands an entirely new kind of apology and meanwhile every Republican group chat is like “Good morning fellow SS members. Who’s ready to respect Hitler today?”

Crowds have power.

As we protest this cruel regime, it’s important not to give them any excuse to respond with violence.

They want a police state. 🚔
We’ll model peaceful opposition.📺

Please consider these tips for ensuring calm, peaceful protests.

Stay safe out there.🕊️

I think two things are true:

1. young republicans were always terrible and racist

2. young republicans become openly hitler-loving groypers is in fact a new and alarming development that is worth paying attention to

As another Jewish woman in the industry, I can clear this up: It's due to her being an asshole.
Fox News host Emily Compagno claims that the backlash to Bari Weiss being named CBS News editor-in-chief is due to her being Jewish:

"This kind of thing would make me laugh if there was not an antisemitic thread in there."

It's been 23 days since Adelita Grijalva was elected by the people of Arizona's seventh congressional district to represent them in Congress.

Mike Johnson still refuses to swear her in.

No, you see, he doesn't qualify. ICE knows the limits of the authority Kavanaugh gave them, and they're very visible.
The Family Guy colour palette meme.

A cop is holding up a colour palette next to Peter Griffin's face. The top three colours are "white" skin tones, and are labelled "Illegal Detainment"; Peter's skin matches the third.

The bottom three colours match Black or brown skin tones, and are labelled "Kavanaugh Stop."

The reality of Kavanaugh stops: American citizens dragged, tackled, beaten, tased, and shot by immigration agents. Citizens held in the rain while in their underwear. A pregnant citizen's door blown off while Kristi Noem watched. Important story by @nicolefoy.bsky.social of @propublica.org
Screenshot of the article by Nicole Foy of ProPublica:
"When the Supreme Court recently allowed immigration agents in the Los Angeles area to take race into consideration during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned.

“If the officers learn that the individual they stopped is a U.S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States,” Kavanaugh wrote, “they promptly let the individual go.”

But that is far from the reality many citizens have experienced. Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents. They’ve had their necks kneeled on. They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear. At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them. One of those women had already had the door of her home blown off while Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem watched.

About two dozen Americans have said they were held for more than a day without being able to phone lawyers or loved ones."
Is it me, or is this exactly what Israel has been doing in #Palestine with Hamas? I.e. they’re “hiding” in apartment buildings, hospitals, elementary schools…

newrepublic.com/article/2016...
But the absurdity of this episode doesn't diminish how sinister and carefully elaborated much of this propaganda truly is. When ICE raided an apartment complex in Chicago, where Trump is also trying to deploy various National Guards, state propagandists produced a slick video portraying it as a heroic operational triumph against a dangerous, determined, dug-in enemy.
Stephen Miller declared that the complex was "filled" with Tren de Aragua "terrorists."
Yet as Aaron Reichlin-Melnick points out, all of two people were identified as possible members of the gang, per CNN.
