‘Ramallah is a city with a greater annual rainfall than London.
Although it sits on top of the abundant Central Aquifer, residents are forbidden to dig wells & draw water. There is no absolute water scarcity; the shortage is entirely manufactured by Israeli authorities’

Colonialization Through Dehydration in Palestine
Israel’s extreme rationing of water to the Palestinian people is central to its larger project of control, domination, and ethnic cleansing.

Gauge the ‘seriousness’ of Israel/Israelis want for anything like peace, never mind the coming justice, by whether they see the urgent need to free Marwan Barghouti.
They won’t because they don’t…

‘The problem isn’t the planning system. It’s a broken, profit-driven housing model that banks land and starves supply. Scrapping nature protections won’t build 1.5m homes, it will just bulldoze public trust and the countryside.’
Reeves’ contemptuousness is not merely wrong but dumb & dangerous.

‘When asked whether wildlife should be protected even if it delays/raises the cost of infra, every single voter group –incl Labour, Conservative & Reform UK– chose wildlife. Among the general public, 62% prioritised nature protection vs 18% building at any cost.’

Editorial: Rachel Reeves’s drive to speed up development is beginning to treat wildlife and the environment as expendable. Voters want homes built, but not at any cost

There’s nothing so good as scrub! Especially in our denuded cities!
Let it go, let it grow, let it overgrow, merge and undermine meaningless boundaries of every kind!
andyzahn.bsky.social
Far too often, scrub/brush is treated as a nuisance, hazard, or eyesore, when in fact it is vital habitat and a key component of natural succession.

For years, this was part of a path through the land, but it's now an impenetrable tangle of gorse and young trees.

As the trees grow, the gorse and other vegetation will be shaded out, and I'll be able to pass again, but through *rainforest*.

Scrub is how natural forest ecosystems form.

It’s such a blatant con if people want to use it like this, as they do! Esp once dealing w hundreds of millions, which frees you of all constraints incl or esp tax!
These are good suggestions & fold in with Zack Polanski’s headline focii very well.

Limited liability is one of our weird silences. It's a massive free gift society makes to plutocrats, seldom remarked upon, let alone contested.
Shareholders should have to buy limited liability, like any other insurance. The insurers would then be liable. 🧵

Reposting some things I posted on the devil's site: Congrats to László Krasnahorkai & all of his translators & publishers, including New Directions Publishing Corp. You can find quite a catalogue of his work in English translation here: www.ndbooks.com/author/laszl...
László Krasznahorkai
New Directions was founded in 1936, when James Laughlin (1914–1997), then a twenty-two-year-old Harvard sophomore, issued the first of the New Directions anthologies.

Can't see any flaws in that approach....
