Because we listened to grunge musicians who wore dresses in our formative years. By the time we realized what Lola was about we were too high to be fazed.
Co-sign Corey’s thread. And if our democracy is to endure, the broad immunity for “official acts” under Trump v. US cannot stand. It is a corrupt decision completely at odds with any non-fringe legal understanding when it was argued and decided.
Absolute immunity from criminal law is non-existent under American law. Even SCOTUS's decision in Trump v US limits presidential immunity to "official acts." States have prosecuted federal officials for violations of state law for over 200 years. 1/
Stephen Miller on Fox threatens to arrest JB Pritzker for "seditious conspiracy" and says, "to all ICE officers: you have federal immunity in the conduct of your duties. And anybody who lays a hand on you or tries to stop or obstruct you is committing a felony."
Not dooming! Just be prepared.
This is what I don’t get about the “US elections are run by states and Trump has no power to cancel them” crowd. There a several ways to mess with elections, and this is a huge one. This will include detaining “illegal looking” citizens and releasing them after the election is over.

Probably smallpox, which was something many in the US blamed on Chinese immigrants, despite being rampant worldwide and absolute racist nonsense
Rob’s statement is demonstrably false (childhood mortality in the US went from 26 per 1000 live births in 1970 to 7 in 2020), but also why did the rate spike 1870-1880? There was a major recession (probably biggest pre-1929), but I’m curious if that’s the full explanation.

Gov. Wes Moore, a man in a Maryland State prison was dehydrated so badly he ate his own feces. Your appointee Secy. Carolyn Scruggs runs the Dept of Publoc Safety & Correctional Services. Who will be held accountable?

This is horrifying. My eyes are welling with tears as I read. Everyone involved—directly as well as prison leadership—needs to be criminally investigated.
New: Correctional staff at a Western Maryland prison shut off the water to a mentally ill man’s cell, then allowed him to suffer for eight days before he finally died of dehydration, according to a recent court filing.

How a Maryland prisoner died an ‘excruciating’ death from dehydration
Lamont Mealy died of dehydration in an isolation cell at Western Correctional Institution in 2023. A lawsuit claims state officials covered it up.

He and his people say it over and over with no shame. Media too afraid of appearing biased to push back.
As the Platner hit keep coming, many people are asking
There should be a polite horn for “hi have a good day” and gentle prods to go and/or pay attention, and a second horn that means “fuck you” and “move your ass.”

I have peed my pants enough to say that looks like cum.

If there’s one thing that Christ cared about, it was being based.
His Maron interview is worthwhile. Blank Check is good too but skippable, unless you’re a Miller’s Crossing fan.
Did you include The Strange Things about the Johnsons? Aster’s recent podcast circuit is worthwhile as well.
It was Ingraham. They were Dartmouth Review writers when it was first getting off the ground.

Can someone please explain to me why Pelosi et al picked Jeffries to lead? He's so flat and bad at delivering the message. I know Dems really are bad at the game, but was he really the best of the worst?
