Every time a television sports analyst begins an utterance with “I’ll tell you what …” they should receive a mild electric shock.

Contrast Vance with Talarico. For the historical record (& hoping there is one), count me with Talarico.

Donald Trump is the worst human being in America, but in a way JD Vance is worse. Trump was born a monster and has always been one. Vance DECIDED to become this hateful abomination.

People are rightly disgusted by this speech, but it’s a measure of fascism’s normalization that many see this as more of the awful same rather than what I think most of us who’ve been reporting this beat hear it as: a significant calculated escalation. Full alert stuff.
JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

It ain’t over yet, but if Texas A&M volleyball goes through Louisville, Nebraska, Pitt & Kentucky en route to a national title it will be one of the most impressive collegiate championship runs ever in any sport. (Hoping this post works as a jinx, but big respect to the Aggies regardless.)

Simply put, Kentucky basketball is a different team when Jaland Lowe is running the show.

And everybody — from Mark Pope to Rick Pitino to Jayden Quaintance – admitted as much after Lowe's stirring second-half showing on Saturday against St. John's: ⬇️

‘Changes everything we do.’ Jaland Lowe shows value in vital UK basketball win
After reinjuring his right shoulder, Jaland Lowe put together a strong second-half showing in Kentucky basketball’s win over St. John’s.

Pope deserves credit for halftime defensive adjustment to extend pressure. Has definitely disrupted St. John’s offense. Tom Leach describes Quaintance as “an oak tree with mobility.” Lowe’s return crucial too. As with Indiana, Cats use second half run to take control of a game that looked doubtful.
TV TO (7:53): Kentucky 59, No. 22 St. John's 49.

Catlanta is rocking as UK has held St John's without a field goal for the last 8:14 of elapsed playing time.

The Red Storm have only 2 field goals in the second half so far

First Kentucky possession of each half: Dioubate falls down while putting his head down & forcibly dribbling into the lane.

UK offense continues to hurt one's eyes: Cats are 9-25 FGs, 0-4 treys, have not shot a free throw & have turned it over nine times

Pitino strolls around well out onto the court during play. During dead balls he ventures practically into the lane. He just participated in a double team of a UK dribbler near the St. John’s bench. More active than some UK players.

Oh no, Lowe exits injured again. How does Kentucky spending what it supposedly spent for players find itself with only one true point guard a season after it had two point guards injured & unavailable for substantial parts of the season?

Trumpist fascism: anti-truth, anti-rule of law, & pro-violence.
NBC News said threats targeted at least 22 officials after Trump named opponents and allies online. Slotkin cited nearly 1,000 threats; Schumer reported bomb threats; Goode described a swatting call. Investigators have not identified who sent them.

Herbstreit is my favorite football analyst; college, pro, either, both. Keen insights, well expressed, before & after plays. Minimal to no personal stories. Always amazingly knowledgeable & prepared. Appropriate humor. Some lapses & tics, of course but he most helps me enjoy & understand games. #CFP

OK, that was a sufficiently entertaining half of football. Don’t particularly like either team, but find myself pulling for the Sooners, mainly from fear of Brent Venables yelling at me. #CFP

Alabama & Oklahoma helmets so close in color. Sooners slightly shinier, which is hard to say three times real fast. #CFP

Kentucky volleyball not at its sharpest so far.
