Graduate seminar did a deep dive on Thomas Paine’s Common Sense yesterday. At the line, “in America the law is king,” they (14 students from 6 countries) burst out laughing. I've been doing this for 35 years and this is the first time that was a laugh line.
omg, look what Al Qaeda did!

Mamdani is already getting the criminals out of NYC!
Singing: Driving that train, High on cocaine...

Yeah, makes sense.
The short fingered vulgarian aesthetic in full display.

Earlier on Canal Street, as agents attempted to disperse, one who I recognize from the courts pulled out a taser and threatened protester with it. @thecity.nyc
Agreed, but -- for the record -- I'd accept mine even if signed by autopen.
If that's how ICE treats their allies...

The defecation video, but real.
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU
White House begins demolishing East Wing facade to build Trump’s ballroom

Good thing, given the name of this site.

Democrats should be drawing up legislation right now, this very minute, to bar Trump from helping himself to $230 million in taxpayer funds from DOJ. Challenge Republicans to hold a vote on it. Push this so hard in the media that every GOP Senate and House candidate is pressed to comment on it.

Point five is really important. The protests provoked errors from the administration (shit force one) that may haunt them for years. That’s what happens when you stop being reactive.
It's the great white replacement.

Obviously.

Enough is enough. Adelita Grijalva was elected on September 23. The people of Arizona have a right to be represented in Congress.

During today’s pro forma session, when the House is called to order I will seek unanimous consent to insist upon the swearing-in of Adelita Grijalva.

That clampdown on the Pentagon press corps has done wonders. 🤡

The White replacement call is coming from inside the (appropriately named) White House.

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

the symbolism of “Trump destroying the White House for a overpriced luxury vanity project, during a government shut down, days after a historically-large mass demonstration against his regime called “No Kings”’ would be rightly viewed as laying it on a little thick if it was in a work of fiction
I wish I'd waited to have kids.

Based on Bluesky's current growth and usage metrics, there's only about six months before everyone on here becomes pregnant at the same time. We will all give birth around Jan 2027 and the shared experience of childrearing "the Bluesky generation" will unite us in purpose and, possibly, all thought.

See the issue is that Trump ran on releasing on the Epstein files, and Bondi said she had them sitting on her desk ready to go, and then Elon Musk tweeted that Trump was in them and they were suddenly deemed a hoax and Ghislaine was moved to a spa prison, so you can understand the fresh intrigue
Mike Johnson: "Suddenly now, they've somehow convinced themselves that the Epstein files will be damaging to President Trump and Republicans in some way that they've imagined, and so they feign outrage."

Here’s the other big problem: Treasury Secretary Bessent is sitting on a massive Epstein file containing thousands more bank documents that would help us continue to follow the money through his sex trafficking ring.

Banks are required by law to flag suspicious transactions right away so law enforcement can stop monsters like Epstein. JPMC is one of several banks that willingly chose not to alert law enforcement about Epstein's money laundering and trafficking payments.
