Very few facts about the media landscape of my youth blow my mind, but the Rockapella Carmen Sandiego x Spike Lee connection really did a number on me.

I very much like the idea of this series. Teen Vogue is really out here meeting the moment.
welcome to @teenvogue.com new series Challengers: talking to candidates either challenging an incumbent candidate who isn't meeting the moment—or challenging the political system's expectations of what a candidate can look like

up first @mussabali.bsky.social, 28, who might be Jersey City's Zohran
Is Mussab Ali Jersey City's Answer to Zohran Mamdani? Only Tuesday's Election Will Tell
“Politicians are the OG influencers,” Ali, the youngest candidate in Jersey City, New Jersey’s mayoral race, told Teen Vogue.

I have seen some extremely weird behavior on public transit, but rarely has anyone showed violent behavior. And the rare times violence happened, everybody on the bus/train kicked into high gear to either kick the person off, or to hold them until security showed up.
i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times

Chopin, whose music can be counted among the most beautiful expressions of human ambition and emotion, would have given a Chotiner interview so disastrous that it would be a subordinate clause in the first line of his obituary
Which composers would have the worst Chotiner interview?

Obviously Wagner would be a trash fire but no one would expect how terrible the Stravinsky one would be

Teachers and therapists are often on SNAP. One requires a master’s degree and the other all but requires it and yet I see people saying they should “go to college” and “get a real job” and get off benefits.

I qualified for SNAP when I was a clergy.

The working poor often don’t “look” poor.
That was some gotcha coming from a corporate slut.
We just started our new cycle of keeping stock and chicken carcasses in the freezer.
Yes!! It would have been a great part, but it would have kept him humble.

In regards to David Harbour, this is what happens when character actors are treated like leading men. He got notions, and he needs to be put in his place.
If he was acting 30 years ago, at best he would be playing parts on Diagnosis Murder and Matlock.
I think you are absolutely correct.

From now on, when anyone asks how we’re going to pay for it, the answer should be we’ll take it out of the teargas budget.
I did it with 5 friends and yes there were a lot of cookies, but we allowed a couple extra friends to stop by, so they could gather extra cookies. It was really fun

We're making the first chicken stock of the season, and going to have some pasta tonight! It smells wonderful in here

What this "article" actually is, is a marketing piece trying to sell people things. "We gotta promote some items and create some affiliate links".
This article is interesting mainly for blowing your mind as to how Americans don’t use the most basic of kitchen items like tea towels, a kettle, a pepper mill, etc 🤯
10 international kitchen staples most Americans haven’t caught on to yet
From French tea towels to Japanese knives, these international kitchen finds will make you ask: ‘Why don’t we have that?’

you should donate to your local food bank. but also give your money directly to your homebound and disabled friends for whom the food bank does not exist
All of this to say, definitely keep an eye on your neighbors right now, and give where you can. Give quietly, but do it. This is the worst fucking time to go hungry. And definitely donate money to the local pantry.
When I was a kid, we had family friends who lived on the nearby reservation. When things were super tight, they would bring us items from the pantry, claiming that us taking a box kept their numbers up. I have no idea if that was true, but we were so grateful for that extra box of food.
That is awful! I would cry if I found out my neighborhood taco stand closed down. God damn!
You got me, and I really wanted my own pic of Adonis 😄
Planting a garden is a sure fire way I will have to get thru this next winter. I want to survive and see everyone at spring harvest time.
Planted some shallots and garlic this afternoon, and feeling hopeful.
