I see what you mean. We really do have limited resources, and theirs appear to be endless. Unity and collegiality are essential for those of us in the centre and on the left of the political spectrum. This is an international as well as a national crisis.

Ultimately the underlying causes are greed, lust for power, shocking levels of ignorance and value systems that are devoid of virtue, kindness, decency & generosity. These people certainly know how to spread disinformation and hatred. There are plenty of resources & money if they are shared fairly.

It's very scary and from the little I've seen of it Fox 'news' is a disgrace and a vile influence on the nation. The movement towards fascism is shocking. If people can't see the gulf between the unimpressive Dems and the Trump ascendency there is no hope for them. The abuse is unsurprising.

Of course while Powell’s speech was a) repellently racist and b) rightly condemned by the contemporary Tory party, he was only calling for voluntary departures.

The current Conservative policy is worse and more unjust, demanding forced removals of legal residents. We’re in a very, very bad place.

Reports from Gaza throughout the day showed Israel continuing to fire and bomb across multiple areas. Israeli drone fire killed one civilian near Bani Suhaila; artillery pounded Deir al-Balah; and massive airstrikes hit southeast Khan Younis according to Al Jazeera. In Gaza City, forces blew up homes and shelled eastern neighborhoods. Nearly 100 Palestinians have been murdered since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, exactly two weeks ago.

Watching from afar and finding this shocking. A fucking ballroom. The lost ideals, the stench, the corruption, the disregard for the nationwide demonstrations and protests, the abuse of power, the sheer ignorance and narcissism of the bully TV personality elected to the highest office. Incredible.

There was an absolute failure to regulate the City and casino capitalism, hence the near disasters of 2007 - 2008. This was the essence of neoliberalism - the stupid belief that 'the markets' could be left to determine the wellbeing of entire countries like Britain. And we won't forget PFI either.

Nonsense. It was a time of plenty throughout the world thanks to the rise of East Asia, China & Korea, cheap mass produced goods, the rise of the Internet & online commerce etc. There was NO control on the cost of housing or rents, and near zero housing replacement for right to buy losses. Get real.
