The modern Republican party is, and will be for the next 40+ years, the party of naked racism, open Nazi glorification, antisemitism, rape, and murder.
If you're Republican and not a fan of that, you're probably not *really* a Republican any more.
Journalist @laurajedeed.bsky.social put together this informed guide in June. She’s got years of boots on the streets experience & is a thoughtful journalist as well.
As I read this, I keep thinking over and over again about the two major groups I see in politics and policy spaces: folks who take opinion polls as gospel and folks who see them as indicators of what people believe at the moment that can be *shaped* into something else.
we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.
I'm so proud to have colleagues like Tom Bowman -- who in this opinion piece lays out why the new Pentagon press restrictions are so dangerous. www.npr.org/2025/10/14/g...

Aaaand there it is. This isn't about paying the troops, this is about taking away the budget authority of the legislative branch with the bonus of making the military dependent on Trump and only Trump to get paid.
Unconstitutionally taking money that the law says must be spent on one purpose & using it for something else—when it's to establish personalist control over the FUCKING MILITARY—is about as dangerous a constitutional crisis/failure as you can imagine
I may be incorrect on this, but it seems like Fox News hasn't exactly been showing footage of the protests either because they're so absurd to look at and then listen to Trump's rhetoric.
