Writing novels is very hard, and everyone who finishes writing one deserves praise and accolades purely for that accomplishment.

Your occasional reminder that Ursula K. Le Guin and Philip K. Dick were in the same year in the same high school, liked each other’s writing, but never met in person.

In The Vanguard by Chloe Smith
When I’m back from a vanguard run, they all say they can’t understand me. My neighbors, my family, my lover, they all ask, how do you do it?

You don't actually know what will or will not make a difference which is why it matters to try to do things.

Bök's earlier book, Eunoia, was pretty great too. It's all about vowels. Here's one from chapter U, the only vowel in this is u.

I think a really important thing is giving yourself permission to do thing slowly. You aren’t going to cook a good meal rushing, aren’t going to write a good book rushing, aren’t going to enjoy your day with a friend rushing. It’s really important to practice intentional slowness sometimes.
