Update: on the second plane.
I’m on a plane at 6am, which is not a time suited to my personal biorhythm. Thoughts and prayers.

I finally got around to watching M. Night Shyamalan's TRAP, and on the whole I found it quite wanting, but I did appreciate the bit where a character tries to use his psychopathy against him, talking like his mother, and he's just, "Really, did you think that was going to rattle me?"

I’ve basically engineered my life so I only see commercials when I’m watching something live (like the Golden Globes) and I forget how fucking weird so many are.

When my releases were at their two-a-year peak, I would often be, at the same time, planning the release of Book A, doing edits on Book B, drafting Book C and pre-planning Book D.

I need to get back into that rhythm.
The true secret to my long career: As a midlist writer hanging on to my career one book at a time, I can only control the work I do, not outcomes.
So I work: Drafting Novel W while waiting for edit notes on Novel F. When edits & draft are done, I'll return to the half finished & overdue Novel L.

Opening my email: A statement available from Social Security? That's odd.
Checking address it came from: an org.uk address, huh? Surely that's legit for something from Social Security...

I mean, how many times have you seen a video that someone posted that they think proves they're in the right, and it doesn't show that at all.

Literally every sovereign citizen video out there is something they put online themselves, just them stepping on a rake and thinking they won the argument.
/4 I got a NG because the prosecution thought everyone would see the video the way they did, and didn’t think too hard “well does the video actually show the crime, or just show mayhem in general?” They focused on the optics over the elements.

On "hot takes from old shows", I haven't recovered from learned that the actor who played Byron on Babylon 5 is younger than me, and was TWENTY-ONE when he shot the show. Pat Tallman was his love interest and was old enough to be his mother, but you'd never think that looking at the two of them.

If I had a nickel for every time Hugh Jackman played an old, dying version of an iconic hero who teams with a young protege to protect a bunch of children, I'd have two nickels...

Broke my wrist in a pillow fight.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

I've been seeing a lot of Stranger Things discourse, where so many folks are being all "oh, but if you look at what's in the background here!" and "this couldn't just be continuity error, it must MEAN SOMETHING" and I am BEGGING y'all to stop what you're doing and watch ROOM 237.
