I was thinking about this today, here in Ontario. I remember in the early 1990s in university that September was chilly and even occasionally had frost. This season is off the rails. I dressed for summer today and rode around on my bike. So it was awesome but not quite right.

Since @davidbelliard.bsky.social from @lesecologistes.fr became Paris’ deputy mayor in 2020, cars were deprioritized, cycling boosted & pollution dropped.

🌻 Cleaner air, safer streets: this is what we want, at a local, national and European level.

My elderly mother lives in one of those buildings protecting single-family homes, at the junction of a 10-lane thoroughfare and a highway. She is surrounded by unsafe air. She also struggles with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Agree.
& Living, respiring shade in the form of a canopy of vegetation is cooling and more valuable than tall concrete shade that absorbs heat and radiates it out again.
Vegetation does triple duty as it also manages rainfall and supports mental health. The type of shade matters.
