POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

The whole point of expanding ICE is to regularise far-right militias as paramilitary forces of the State. Obviously.

NEW: I took a long look at the Proud Boys and found some of their most extreme chapters are sharing ICE recruiting materials on encrypted apps and even suggesting members have joined up. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/in-the-...

Trump already gave so many of us jobs with ICE. We may have to start recruiting soon to fill all these spots.

Even if Proud Boys aren't joining (and here is no confirmation), federal paramilitary forces clearly recruit from the same pool and share overlapping ideological and political goals. As has always been the case, far right gangs and street groups work with law enforcement, not against.

Police in Canterbury today informed a protestor that the phrase "Israel is committing genocide in Gaza" could be considered a declaration of support for Palestine Action and therefore a terrorism offence.

Secunder Kermani: "For Palestinians these were hostages too"

In the next breath Kermani reports they were held in prison without charge or trial. Held indefinitely without charge, trial or evidence against them. So stop hiding behind 'For Palestinains..." & call them hostages.

Kevin Maguire calls the Palestinians released yesterday "prisoners, detainees, hostages" & then clarifies, "they consider them hostages"

Locked up without charge or trial, no evidence produced, imprisoned indefinitely. You were right the first time Kevin. They were/are hostages

But, still, the irony of the LNER Community Stadium not being near a railway station particularly jars. And in York, too. *rolls eyes*
fatbadger442.bsky.social
I will be relatively nearby, but imagine being a Brighton-based fan. So this is, in part, just a generalised moan about the football industry (clubs and competitions) not considering those who wish to travel to matches by public transport.

This is just after I found out that the Liverpool Women v Brighton Women match I was hoping to get to (I'm in Leeds that weekend) has now been scheduled for 12, on a Sunday. It's near a train station (St Helens), but the first arrival (via Manchester) is 30mins after kick-off.
fatbadger442.bsky.social
Only on York City's match days, I believe. I'm wanting to go to a Leeds Utd U21 (v Brighton U21) match there. I've checked, and I can only arrive 1hr after kick-off (admittedly, I'm traveling from outside Yorkshire, but I have easy access to the East Coast line).
fatbadger442.bsky.social
This is a particularly egregious example, but there's a general point here - new stadiums shouldn't be built that aren't easily accessible by public transport. It should be a planning requirement, quite frankly.

Just found out that the LNER Community Stadium is more than an hour's walk from the nearest railway station.

You couldn't make it up, etc.
