Every time you buy a Nintendo device it’s either “here’s 6 people miming playing video games on a roof” or “here’s Mario, eat up scum” and it’s nice to just buy a gaming device that’s presented like the computer Lain’s dad buys her when she gets serious.

for anyone who doesn't know wotc couldn't get the digital card game rights to Spider-Man, so they released the same set online but without any spider-man branding. they made entirely new in-universe characters and concepts to stand in for the same cards, many of which care about spiders mechanically

i'm not gonna glaze universes beyond. the office thing is obviously embarrassing, this spider-man set feels underbaked and messy. but a weird consequence of not working out digital rights is that they were kind of forced to give Spiders a place of prominence *in universe* which is actually very cool
