Gent with sweater, "I live in a village not far from here, there have been 600-700 houses put in but no extra roads. So all of a sudden it's gridlock. I can't understand the thinking behind that" #BBCQT

Good question. Why is planning so poor?

The BBC thinks this worthy of its news homepage, but I’m still not seeing much about Reform’s financial relationship with Russia. If we had a serious media we might not collectively drunkenly stagger from one idiocy to the next.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Farage has said that Nathan Gill was "one bad apple" - unintentionally being accurate because he forgot the rest of the proverb.

Precisely.

Its quite shameful Israeli teams are still playing. And that the UK PM is openly arguing for them to be allowed to visit the UK. Little doubt amongst the travelling supporters will be people guilty of genocide

Could we just have the schedule of who is presenting Newsnight at the start of the week? It's simply a different programme when Derbyshire is on. Like having the best gelato after being forced to lick a photocopy of a bad photo or a Mr Whippy.
"Does that make you question Nigel Farage's judgement?"

"No, not at all."

Professors *never* supply information. Students aren’t paying premium prices for ‘information’ at all. How can people who presumably have attended universities misunderstand their role so badly?
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

This isn't a slow-moving crisis; it's an urgent emergency that demands immediate and decisive action from the government.

The time for complacency is over. The government must step in with an emergency funding package and guarantee that no terminally ill patient is denied a dignified end-of-life.

The ending of remote working on titles like RS and Pitchfork strikes me as utterly insane. Throwing away veteran contributors for what? American journalists have always lived all over the map

Populists live on simple answers and cheap applause. When those no longer work and they are confronted by unpopularity, they have nothing.
👏 "We've lived here all our lives. And I have never felt so unwelcome in my own hometown as I do since your party came into Caerphilly."

"With all the rhetoric that you bring in, I have to say to my sons, please don't go there. Please don't do this."

"I blame you for that."

It’s always worth remembering that this utterly horrific wave of mass death inflicted on some of the poorest people in the world was for literally nothing. It hasn’t even been for some monstrously cynical benefit to someone, it hasn’t saved money. It is just some of the purest nihilism imaginable
Even in this place, I feel the sheer scale of foreign aid being demolished isn't fully appreciated. As it stands, it is perhaps *the* most catastrophic change to preventable deaths in our lifetimes, and the salience - even in presumably friendly spaces - is basically zero

Starmer waited months and months from trapping Johnson in a denial of partygate to pressing that advantage. So I think he knows how to pick a moment. But I don’t want to hang any hopes on it.

The Labour Party have spent no time at all criticising Nigel Farage and Reform.

When I took Reform on - Labour sat their silently.

They're now spending their time attacking me and the Green Party.

One of my pet peeves is the whole "the internet was a mistake" kneejerk. Like, if you're worried about fascists and autocrats organizing on it, bad news about the proceeding thousands of years of history. They don't need it. The first thing they do is try to destroy it because it is dangerous.

NEWS: CBS News head of standards Claudia Milne has quit. It was announced in the network’s 9 am editorial meeting. Bari Weiss was not on the call. According to a source, Milne gave thanks but did not say why she’s leaving the network.
This is why I’m still happy as a leftish Lib Dem. They try and think about real life detail in local contexts and it’s hard to meme it (hence the stunts instead I suppose). But I understand the relief of hearing leftish things said without the toxic Labour aspect.

I didn't expect so much literal Nazism. I should have. I got into a fight with an editor years back about whether to describe a social media cluster as Nazis or neo-Nazis. I argued for Nazis, because it really wasn't neo.
There’s a lot of crap on YouTube about narcissistic behaviour and abuse, but also some excellent guidance. I do think we should all be educated in the patterns for our own, and our society’s, protection.
