🧵:

Last June, more than 5 million Americans joined #NoKings rallies across the country, protesting President Trump's authoritarianism. And this Saturday, with your help, it's going to be even bigger and better.

Trump at the Charlie Kirk memorial event: "They fired sniper rifles at ICE agents, and me. But I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. Charlie couldn't believe it, actually."

ATL folks: any good neutral sources for evaluating City Council candidates? And who should my protest vote for Mayor be? B/c I’m not voting for Dickens. I know he’s going to win, but I just can’t.

NEW: Maine Democrat Dan Kleban suspends his Senate campaign & endorses Janet Mills the same day she launches her campaign.

Also comes as the DSCC files a joint fundraising committee with Mills.

Consolidation happening around Mills, who would be 79 if elected to the 6-year-term.
Dan Kleban Suspends Senate Campaign,
Endorses Gov. Mills for Senate

“I Got Into This Race for the Same Reason I Started Maine Beer Company—to ‘Do What’s Right’”

“Governor Mills is the Right Leader for this Moment and is in the Best Position to Win”
Cumberland, ME — Dan Kleban, founder of Maine Beer Company and U.S. Senate candidate, released the following statement today:

“Today, I am suspending my campaign for U.S. Senate and enthusiastically endorsing Governor Janet Mills.

“Right now, our country is at a crossroads. Susan Collins is not doing what’s right for the state of Maine, and hardworking Mainers are literally paying the price—housing, health care, groceries, and electric bills are all too high and getting worse. I believe Governor Mills will win next year and put Mainers first by addressing these pressing issues.

“I got into this race for the same reason I started Maine Beer Company—to ‘Do What’s Right.’ That motto has guided me in business and is why we paid a living wage from Day One, cover 100% of health care costs and provide retirement benefits for our full-time employees, and share our success with the community. We’ve taken action on climate and environmental sustainability, giving 1% of our sales to nonprofits addressing climate change, promoting conservation, and integrating clean energy practices into our business. People thought we were crazy, but we proved we could build a company that’s a force for good.

“These core values also guided me in this campaign. I entered this race because I believe Washington needs more leaders who put people before politics and who will fight every day to make life better for Maine families. While our message was right, the timing isn’t. Governor Mills is the right leader for this moment and is in the best position to win.

“I’m not a politician. I’m a guy who loves his family and was blessed to start a business in the state that gave me so much. This isn’t the end of my fight. Maine has given me so much, an…

The Chicago Metropolitan Area extends into Wisconsin and runs right up to the Michigan border.

It is the de facto regional capital of the Midwest.

Have to believe the fascist blitz in Chicago will swing moderates in Michigan and Wisconsin away from the GOP and its authoritarian right candidates.

I still call my family and multiple friends I have had since high school by dialing their number on my cell phone.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

“I got to where suicide sounded sane.”

Americans gambled $150 billion through online sportsbooks last year.

Far too many lost nearly everything.

This op-ed isn't the worst thing I've read about beer in the @nytimes.com, but it relies on some very facile ideas about how the craft beer market works that don't hold up to basic scrutiny.

Reading this after having visited Hercules Lagerbar in Mexico City twice in the past three days made this garbage seem all the more galling.

Craft beer is a magnet for bad takes, but this one is truly fucking terrible.

Craft brewers have been moving towards lagers, pilsners, lower ABV beers, and classic styles for half a decade.

But buddy thinks wacky beer names, crazy styles, and high ABV beer are what is killing the industry. FOH.

I love Chicago and visit there often, but man, at the moment, I don't think it is an ideal vacation spot for our Mexican brothers and sisters.

Yes, if a male grifter like Chris Rufo or Ben Shapiro were named the head of CBS News, yes, the reaction would have been just as fierce.

No one is objecting because she's a woman. Jesus, get a grip.

You think for ONE SEC that a man in her position who was named head of CBS News would be the subject of so much to-do? Come on.
