If federal agents (ICE, CBP) commit crimes in the course of immigration or law enforcement operations, can state and local police and prosecutors charge them with a crime?

Here's a deep dive into that question through the lens of one recent incident in Oakland.

A federal agent shot a pastor in the face with a chemical weapon. What can California do about it?
A violent response to an Oakland protest raises the same legal questions other states are grappling with as Trump’s immigration crackdown intensifies.

I literally set an alarm as soon as I got that email it goes so fast!
I love the East Bay so, so much. I imprinted on it like a baby bird; I’ve been to and lived in many other beautiful spots on this earth but I will always love this little stretch of bay and hills the most
It is one of those California fall days that feels like you’re drowning in beauty and light

RTing so I can find it again when I’m ready to read lots of great info!!
Lots of lovely folks want to cook for neighbors, fill community fridges during SNAP shutdown but are intimidated. A mutual aid group in Flatbush, Brooklyn has been feeding 80+ people every single week for a year and a half or so now. Nobody is born knowing how to cook for 80, so here's our guide!

While the feds continue to play stupid games, SNAP recipients are set to lose food aid for the next month. In the Bay Area, a growing number of restaurants are stepping up to help, and we're maintaining the list. Share with anyone who needs it. www.coyotemedia.org/these-bay-ar...
These Bay Area Restaurants Are Offering Free Food to SNAP Recipients
Amid a government shutdown that will cut off aid for 42 million Americans, local food scene folks plan to pick up the slack.

Food bank director: “for every meal that a food bank provides, the SNAP program provides nine. There’s no way we can meet that gap.”

I've been harping on using FSA funds because workers lose $4 BILLION in unspent funds each year. I don't think many people even know about the FSA store as just one example of a simpler way to spend some of that money. Use it for others if you don't need it yourself.

An exclusive Money analysis finds that 47% of workers failed to drain their FSA balances in 2023, adding up to billions in lost money.
