Saw a Local Natives and Wye Oak open for the National in 2011, a killer concert top to bottom
I think they'll be interesting and kinda fun in addition to aggressively mid; my only fear is that they sneak into the play-in in the weak east instead of getting a lottery ticket
I'm very curious how good this new defensive scheme will be in a month, but I also think there is a lot of misplaced optimism because the Cs haven't been fully not good in a decade
Mookie has been an Oregon dog for nine if his eleven years but still cannot believe it's allowed to rain on him
Shame on you for making such Coffee Bean Assumptions
I tend to think the reason it's ok to think and say these things is a refusal to look at the colonialism that our Western world is built upon, to grapple with how we are the bad guy in many of the struggles there and have been for a long, long time. May we find a way to fix our hearts
I was just in Morocco, and was delighted at how warm the culture there is, how concerned with hospitality and good humor. It is somehow fine to state in America that Islam is a "religion of violence" not a large one full of various people and politics, falls flat in the face of the actual culture
Mamdani's speech on Islamophobia was so good and necessary. I am not Muslim and am no expert on any of this, but I studied Arabic a bit in school and have been to the Islamic world, and it is dismaying to continually notice just how allowed and encouraged Islamophobia is across American culture

“Do you think Americans care” is the most facile gotcha question when like half our economy is built around telling Americans what they should care about

Make sure to put some of these community forums on your calendar.

It's really important to continue to show up as industry tries to undermine this community driven process.

NW Natural, Zenith, and others are trying to stop aggressive climate justice action & some commissioners are weak kneed.

Lovely that all humanity feels the impulse to sometimes sing songs of the horrors of existence to our babies
Surely you've seen those horrifying Icelandic lullabies that go around periodically?

Their new swarming defense is going to be fun, pretty good, and give up done wide open 3s when it breaks down
This Celtics team is going to be so mid and so fun, the Mazzulla version of the scrappy and awesome early Brad teams

This isn’t a focus in the Discourse because the loudest voices with the biggest platforms are people who have never worried about their next meal. I’ve needed SNAP; I’ve used SNAP; I’ve lost it when it mattered. This is going to be a wave of mass starvation beyond living memory in this country.
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

The whole tread by @lizthegrey.com and @hazelweakly.me is awesome in terms of how little lots of us know what is inside the cloud running as an operation and how much optimisation it allows.

Inspires to dig deeper to understand
I disagree because of economies of scale. smaller datacentres do not have the same efficiencies (both economic and environmental)

have you *seen* the PUE of a Google or Amazon datacentre with one tenant and vertically integrated hw vs a Equinix or Digital Realty floor with many different tenants?
If I had to guess, I’d guess this is the beginning of the death of public clouds. We’ll still *have* public clouds, but current clouds are synonymous with:

- internationally trusted
- runs public, critical, and consumer infrastructure intermixed
- wholly immune to market and customer influence

There’s a CEI Hub Policy roundtable tonight with industry and community folks. Folks from industry basically saying:

“It will cost me too much to prevent a disaster that will cost everyone in life, health, and many times more money.”

In a decent society, anyone saying this stuff would be shunned.

We survived the genocide in Gaza, but our dreams and ambitions did not. Everything was destroyed, but we still dream. Support us here to rebuild everything we lost and protect ourselves from the effects of this genocide.

Setting aside the moral dimensions of neoliberalism and colonialism (lmao) globalisation leads to such weird juxtapositions. It makes no sense that the convenience store in the Casablanca airport is named after Henry Hudson, but here we are!
All the smug assholes who love to say Islam is a religion of violence because admitting Western colonialism was monstrous and has never been atoned for in a world built upon it would break their brains. I can't imagine going through life so brittle and scared
I have been lucky enough to spend the last two weeks in Morocco. As with my trip to Egypt ~20 years ago, I have been fired by the hospitality, humor, and grace of Moroccan culture. Islamophobia is a cancer on Western thought because all bigotry is disgraceful, but it's just so galling
