THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER: Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut is an expansive, evocative work of cinematic poetry with a career-best performance by Imogen Poots. It's a formally ambitious vision that shows Stewart has got the stuff 📽️

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

exciting news: i’m covering The Chair Company weekly! my recap of a wild premiere, which has all the signature features of a Tim Robinson project but feels more reminiscent of Friendship than Detroiters: www.vulture.com/article/the-...

The film opens Friday (Chicago folks can catch it at the Intl Film Fest) before expanding into Seattle starting Oct. 23. It is one of her finest films in a career never lacking for them and was glad with how we got into the heart of the work in our conversation 📽️

THE MASTERMIND is one of Kelly Reichardt's finest films, a sad, funny look at a going-nowhere sad-sack whose unremarkable life is slipping through his fingers. (It's also a heist movie.)

I don't always reply to the pitches I receive from publicists (because I have a job that I do and if I did, I would never get to do my job). But here is a tip for aspiring publicists: Critics do not "write a Rotten Tomatoes review." No critics do this.

apparently “bari weiss doesn’t actually know what journalism is” extends to getting basic facts like the name of a subject right

Promoting the editor-in-chief's personal side project. Zero named sources in a story that promotes the editor-in-chief's personal political position. Misspelling the subject's name. It took one day for CBS News to become a conservative blog.

is this how CBS is gonna work now? using bari weiss's personal blog to launder poorly sourced and lightly edited stories (complete with a misspelling of mamdani's name in the headline) that would never pass muster if reported directly by a real news source?
newsjennifer.bsky.social
CBS News would never put a thinly sourced 'story' by a rookie blogger like this on it's air. Until now. The Free Press isn't a journalism outlet, it's bloggers aren't reporters. This piece is more NYPost than Tiffany Network but I guess that's the goal.

Once more, Robinson shows how good he is at taking common social situations and launching them to absurd heights, leaving us to look up at the sky in a combination of awe and terror as all the pieces come falling around us. It's his best, most bonkers work yet 📺

THE CHAIR COMPANY: Tim Robinson makes another hilarious, rather horrifying series with his expressive acting rivaling the best work of Jim Carrey. It's a show as astute as it is anarchic, proving to be the chaotic conspiracy story for our time 📺
